Please be aware of the terrain you're travelling through at this time of the year.
Get a perspective of the direction you're travelling and the direction of any bushfires in the region. Listen to the local ABC for the latest emergency news.
The Sturt Highway was closed near Truro because the Eden Valley fire had progressed north to the highway last Friday.
The same can be said for travel through the tropical zones in the monsoon season - that is now.
Road closures due to flooding or flood damage can happen very quickly, and if you're tempted to drive through floodways with water over the road, be aware of washouts which may not be visible from your vehicle. Also be aware of junk floating in the torrent crossing the roads. This junk can include large logs, drowned stock, snakes and other critters and creep crawlies like crocodiles.
Keep it safe out there. Don't be an ass.

The plan is not to start if we're aware of the conditions along the route. However some jump the gun and set out, hoping things will improve by the time we get there.
We picked up a job at Pt. Adelaide and it was stranded at Boggabilla last year because Qld wasn't issuing permits until the next week. Bogga is not the best place to be "bogged". We don't usually turn around.
If we can't get through for several weeks they usually park the load up in a truck yard or somewhere safe until the trouble is over. Then they have to do it all again when the roads re-open.
So we were dismissed,
I headed to Brisbane to catch up with Cupie, and from there I got a job to Perth.
That's the way of the industry.
