How Tall is your Shower?

Hi Folks,

I'm 6 foot 4 (195cm?) and looking to buy a used motorhome that is self contained for full timing.

I'm currently overseas and need to purchase a vehicle to live in within a few weeks of arriving back in Brisbane. So far I've only been able to look at a few coasters, not much over here.

I can't stand up in the usual coaster showers and I have dodgy knees. Have or your tall friends found solutions for this? I think I'd get over using a shower chair everyday very quickly!

Can I DIY a 4 seasons hatch over the shower? How much extra height would I get?Somebody mentioned a Brisbane company with some sort of roof dome to fit on for this purpose- any more information -sources/price out there?

Or should I abandon the idea of coaster/buses and look for higher-roofed Truck chassis Winnebagos or similar? I've never seen inside one in the flesh. What about Sprinter vans? And How High is a Hi-Top for any make?

Obviously I need to spend some time to look at all the options out there before buying, BUT. I won't have a vehicle or accommodation when I return to Oz so any thoughts that cut down on wasted Motorhome search time would be highly appreciated. Looking daily at lots of Gumtree ads but no real height details are usually included.

Can you or any tall people you know give me the benefit of your experience?

Any suggestions?  Any measurements?

Hoping to see you all on the road later this year.

Not going to be much help, but I am 6'1" and can standup in a Fiat Ducato Van, but definitley don't have an extra 3" to spare.

Our van is a hi roof Ducato van not a motorhome on a fiat base, maybe they are taller.

Thanks Wooly,

exactly the Info I need. Moving around at 6'1 would probably work OK for most things inside. Is there any structural reason why I couldn't add a shower hatch as well?

I'll definitely look at Ducato Hitops as an option.

Mr B2, you are a lucky fellow!  I suspect your set-up is out of my price range, but I'll keep my eyes open! Thanks for the info.

I see no reason why a hatch couldn't be fitted structurally, all depends where in van the shower is located, if it is between the supports all good.

While I'm only 5f 8in my son is 6f 9in I don't have a camper but he can stand under the hatch of my van quite comfortably.
I don't see why you couldn't fit a hatch over the shower but then I'm not an engineer.

I'm 6' 1" myself and we own a Mercedes Sprinter Jabiru by Trakka. I can stand upright in it with a little to spare (the roof is 187cm and I am 185cm). I cannot stand upright in a Coaster and the problem I see with Coasters is that the bathroom has a curved roof due to their shape. Our Sprinter does not have this problem as the roof is not curved at that point and I can stand upright in our bathroom. Hope that helps.....

PS Our Sprinter is for sale, PM me if you wish.....

Nah, Not Lucky, Just a lot of time and effort,  I will still be well under 80 Grand in Total Costs when its all finished, And Mine has all the bells and whistles, It came

with them, and now I have added Solar to the roof, I am Totally self contained,

I was going to do a late model Mercedes Bus up, But it was cheaper to import,

Whats a good Coaster worth, Much the same price,

Hi,
Slightly off topic but also check the length of the beds. Partner is 5'11 & I'm 6'2 and we find that most beds are too short even at home yet alone in a caravan or motorhome. When we upgraded that was one of the first questions we asked. A good night's sleep is essential. Bill

Again our Sprinter hits the mark as our bed is officially 'king size' and is over 190cm long....

I also have a motorhome for sale but you would need to hold a LR licence or greater to drive it..
It is also 187cm (6'2") and the shower comes out of the wall and the head height in it is also 187cm,it also has around 2200mm available bed length (it currently has no bed in it)..
I am looking for around $60g for it..it is a 7mtr 2000 Hino Ranger..
