Have just made an eBay purchase and was looking for the page to change the delivery address, it used to be on the PayPal pages. I was expecting to be able to nominate a Post Office as I have always done in the past but no there is no such option available now and the goods have to be sent to the official eBay address.
I immediately emailed the supplier with the delivery requirement and was told that it had been addressed and could not be changed. So the 2500 pure sine wave inverter will be delivered to Frankston and will have to be readdressed or redirected.
So it looks like eBay will not be getting any more of my business, they need a street address and all I have is the expectancy to be in a certain town at the anticipated delivery date.
They have had bad experience with fraudulent delivery changes and as such can make such rules to improves their security but from our travelling perspective it makes eBay too hard to use. John
Dunno much about eBay ... but there are many places I have purchased online only to find they require a street address to deliver. Apparently, quite a lot of them use couriers now rather than AustPost because of cost. Hence Care PostOffice Bullamakanka Straya is not valid anymore.
My solution is to figure out how long it will take to deliver and then nominate "Care of Caravan Park Wonderful, Big Highway, Bullamakanka Straya". Then all I gotta do is be at the van park for an overnighter just after it should be delivered and it will be there waiting for me.
Despite that workaround, it is a bit of mucking around I know.
Cheers - John

I thought eBay haven't allowed PO boxes for a long time...I have been a seller on eBay too, and have never sent anything to a PO box in the 6 years I have been selling.
Also like John most web sites or online stores I have bought from will only post to actual addresses not PO boxes. I thought this was standard now. I know some people don't have a street address because of travelling or living in rural areas, and I'm not sure what they normally do.
My Ebay address is a PO box and never had a problem. Just got a package today. Just as well as I don't have a postal delivery so PO is only choice. Did you set up Ebay with a PO address as your normal address?
John, Ebay havn't changed their policy. Sometimes buyers forget to alter their EBAY address and only alter the Pay Pal address...when seller gets notified of payment by Paypal they will show whatever address PayPal has..BUT..they are told to send only to the Ebay address....if the buyer has not altered their EBAY address and only altered their PayPal address then this is where there can be a problem for seller....I've had nothing but P.O. address's with both Paypal and Ebay for the past 12 years with absolutely no problem...occasionally a seller in U.S. will state they will only deliver to actual address and not P.O. but they are only referring to U.S.....likewise some goods are too big to be sent by Australia Post and Australian Sellers can insist some sort of actual delivery address must be given, but that's only for that deal... To sum up you need to make your Ebay address your correct current Postal address which can be a P.O., and its wise to alter the Pay Pal delivery address to be the same or you can create problems for the seller....I have 100% positive feedback on 2600 transactions over past 12 years so have considerable Ebay experience..which has always been positive with at least half of those sales/purchases being with USA....never had anything get lost to date or anything fraudulent...but you need to do your due diligence for each transaction you do, checking feedback etc...I often communicate with sellers by Ebay message before bidding...and even ring if they give me their phone number....hope all this helps and sorry to hear about your current situation which you likely can't change if seller has already posted...but you can get it right for the next transaction..if seller has not yet posted but is insisting on sending to whatever you had for your Ebay delivery address you can quick smart alter the Ebay address to your correct address and advise the seller that you have done that and you require delivery to the correct Ebay address...remember you have the whip hand with leaving feedback negative or positive whilst changes to Ebay system now do now allow a seller to leave anything negative because they used to use a negative to retaliate on a buyer that had done so which made buyers wary of leaving the truth/negative...Hoo Roo

Once you log into PayPal the first screen that then comes shows your current address and below it is a link that allows you to nominate the address you want the parcel sent to...
We use transport depots mainly, just about every town and area has a drop off point for packages or a depot. Never had a problem with doing this on eBay, nor with mail going to post offices and some small packages. Had a PO box years ago and always had problems, especially for big things. Before purchase we ask if they will send it to a certain depot and they are always most willing to do so, more secure, cheaper for them and cheaper for us.
....many problems are caused between seller and buyer if you attempt to advise where you want the parcel sent to, after you have bought, as Ebay expressly advises sellers to send to the nominated Ebay address and you have their protection if you do....sounds great in theory to advise after the sale through Pay Pal but many sellers parcel immediately..plus some buyers purchase for a friend or gift and attempt to have seller send to the 'nominated address' after the sale...sellers are loathe to do this as they are then dealing with a third party, the receipient, that is unknown to the seller, and if that person states they did not receive it, then seller is in the gun, and has no idea who that person is...so as a seller myself Ebay always advises it is best for all concerned to send to the nominated Ebay address...you can even alter the address in Ebay just for that deal if you know you are successful with your bid....what sounds good in theory doesn't work in practice....unless you consider the complete picture for both seller and buyer...

I think the difference here is that people with PO Boxes are OK but people who want 'c/o Post Office' are not. Probably Post Offices not wanting to look after something that may not be picked up or that hasn't used the postal system.
Licensed Post Offices (privately owned) get paid for every parcel that gets signed for - from Toll etc., as well as the postal parcel delivery service - more and more parcels have to be signed for these days. They use scanners nowadays - in my day we hand wrote or input to the computer system (Official Post Office) manually. Some things had a bar code which could be scanned in and out - like Australian Air Express parcels.
