Rego Hino RH160

Hi, can anyone tell me how much the rego is per year for the above mentioned Hino, either in Qld or Nsw. I am now on the pension, so I guess there is concession.

thanks

If you register it in NSW it will be free if you don't already have a vehicle on pensioner rego..
You will however have to pay for the CTP insurance which will be around $600..
And you will need a Blue slip inspection that will cost around $60

In NSW don't you have to return each year for a road worthy certificate.
Depending on what your plans are check SA and VIC as there is no roadworthy etc and you can do your rego payment via the net so no need to return each year.
No problem if you planning to stay home when the rego is due.

Brian

Yes you most certainly do need to have an annual inspection roadworthy in NSW and if the person does the $38 inspection correctly he will pick up any things that need attention before they cause a problem particularly considering it is a light heavy vehicle and needs to goto an inspector that is experienced in heavy vehicles..

At the last inspection of our Hino they picked up that one of the maxi brakes although working wasn't properly applying the brake on the RR wheel which could have caused all sorts of problems if we would have had to use it on a steep hill to hold us..

Thanks guys. Now, you both being Hino owners, and by the sound of it, permanently living/travelling on the road, how do you find the expense and the life of it with petrol prices etc always on the rise.

i am returning to Oz after being overseas for awhile (most of my life). I don't want to enter the housing market, one because of my age, two because it's too late for it to be an investment and too expensive. Besides, living in one place for me is impossible. I did think of a mobile home, but ruled that out knowing I wouldn't last long in that lifestyle. I am tired of visas, airports and cultural miscommunications. So, having considered a motorhome for quite awhile now, and never having seen/experienced much of Oz, I think it's time. Also, reading various forums of the lifestyle of Motorhomers, it sounds like something I could well enjoy at this stage of life.

I chose the Hino after much enquiring, comparing and considering of my needs, that is, reasonable comfort and spaciousness, durability and recommendations generally around the web.

Other expenses and things to consider are, camping grounds - free camping, general cost of living. The Hino is a bigger bus than say, a campervan, so, bigger motor, but then more comfortable.

Your thoughts and opinions appreciated

Why is it that so many object to the annual road worthy, should be a requirement in ALL states then we wouldn't be meeting so much unroadworthy crap along our roads. Its in the interest of saftey for all.

Been involved in this part of the industry for many years & even with annual checks its surprising how many defects that a vehicle can have, some minor & some dam right lethal. So with no inspections have a think of what you are driving in & along with on the roads.

Bring them on.

The problem JC is not the need for a road worthy every year it is the requirement to return the vehicle to state of registration for the road worth that sucks.  I originate from Qld and it is an enormous expense to return to Qld for an annual inspection.  Hence I will not register in Qld. As I have no house I will "move" to a more accommodating state before rego is due again.

I also find it hard to have to return to the state every year at the same time.
You are looking at the larger Hino I have the 145A. Yours should have a 7ltr motor that by all reports is very good on fuel, supposibly as good or not better than the small brother.
Depending on how you travel fuel is really a small part of my life. My annual distance is between 5K and 6K as I stay put a lot and do volunteering and just helping friends etc so the fuel is not of significance.
Budget for around 5km a litre I get about 5.7 and I pull a 8 x 6 penteck with my tools etc as well as my fun gear.
When your looking at buses and this goes for all of them, check around the roof opposite to the air con duct as many are prone to rust and it comes from inside so sneaks up.
The motors are very robust but if you get a Jap one find someone with a similar year and get their vin number as Hino are very hard to get parts out of. If you have an Australian vin there is no problems and they a basically the same.
