Boost have a 3gig/unlimited calls for $39.95.I have used it with my smartphoneas a tethered modem, and its a telstra 3g carrier , so it works in more places. Only one drawback is when you use the 3 gig , you don,t get any more for the rest of the month. Bill
We both have a Boost prepaid Sim that gives us Unlimited calls to all landlines and Mobiles in Au free plus SMS and MMS plus from Feb 15th 2gig of Data all for $40 on the Telstra network..
We teather our phones to our lappys to use the Data and have never gone over our limit.. Mind you we don't do music and movies online..
I personally use Aldi Mobile , prepaid $20 or $30 and it lasts for 365 days , soon as you recharge it lasts another 365 days. Not quite sure on the data useage and uses the Telstra network
hi chopit
our choice was telstra mainly because of coverage , we went for a prepiad called encore ,cost is $30 per month ,you get $30 plus a cap credit of calls of $200 so in all you get $220 of calls plus data i think 2gb ,per mth if you dont use it all but recharge before expiry it accumulates onto next mth ,plus calls after 6pm to any phone is free ,
hope this helps

What is this Telstra plan called - I know of one similar price but it is 400 mb per month
almost always, a reseller will provide cheaper and more flexible plans and most of these will be on a peruse or monthly basis (ie no lockin contract etc), so......
if you are happy to use the Optus network, then Amaysim unlimited is a very good option that I have used for a while....with unlimited calls and 4Gb data per month, Australian helpdesk and regular bonuses for $40.
if you wish to use the Telstra network (ie for extra coverage potential), then Boost unlimited as discussed above seems about the best at the moment (value for money-wise).
I would NOT recommend considering use of the Vodafone network.
Anyway, my best suggestion is for you to determine your average data usage (per month) and maybe even number/duration of calls...then check out the above companies offers (+ Aldi)...and compare to what the network provider offers. Be careful regarding costs for extra data usage and call flagfall/timed rates/messagebank use and contract durations.
FYI a locked phone usually doesnt inhibit use of a reseller sim in my experience; that is, an Aldi or Boost SIM will work in a Telstra-locked phone, ditto Amaysim SIM in an Optus-locked phone.

hi sorry for the delay answering you ,it is called telstra pre paid cap encore ,my mb is,yes your right 400mb i think ,it is not what we use for our internet ,we are on a telstra plan per mth for internet i think its 4gb
Thanks everyone for the valuable input.
It gave me direction in my hunt.
As my wifes phone is an android system & will tether to our laptops
we will try Boost ( 30 day, $40,unlimited calls & 3 GB of data ).
Tethering turns a mobile phone into a mobile internet modem.
That will give us internet when needed & all the calls we want.
Boost use Telstra so best coverage.
My phone won't tether so may just get an Aldi $30/365 day card as a backup.
Again, Aldi use the Telstra network.
I'll look for a 2nd hand Android system phone. If I find one at the right price
( cheap ) I just might get the Boost plan for it too.
I found a site very helpful.
Depending how much you use your phone Telstra have the best coverage. They have a $35 a month prepaid that gives you $200 a month free calls and all calls after 6pm are free. If you prepay before your due date any credits are carried over
"Expensive" I have a Telstra/Wireless Bigpond phone and Internet package and can get much better deals with other companies, but unfortunately they don't have the coverage that Telstra has or I'd change today. Ozjohn.
