Camped Paradise Beach

After leaving Greens stopped at Violet town for smoko, then ton to Pioneer Bridges Rest Stop for the night. On arriving I had no sooner levelled the van when a lovely lady by the name of Sandy asked if I new anything about Generators as hers was new and unused for 6 months. There was also a younger bloke called Rod who was a little perplexed with the Geny thing, so I filled the Kipor 2kva with oil and showed her the ropes for operating. Sandy had let her batteries drop to 11.3volts!!??.

Next morning set of across the Alpine Way over the top to 1800+metres,Wow what a fantastic drive and scenery. We were going to stop for a night but ended up driving through to Ensay South and camped opposite the Recreation Grounds as the phone number in Camps 6 was changed. Went into the grounds next morning and found a new number Ph 03 51573375 or 51573227 and the lady advised me it was $10/night and $5 extra/night with power which is ok with me.

The next day before our friends arrived I set about checking the Solar Panels with my T/A Kim as I had thought for a while there was a problem up top, and on covering and testing individual panels found one of the 80 watt Kyoceras was outputting zero volts and amps. Tried twisting panel to see if anything happened while testing and checked all soldered connections in J-Box but to no avail. So will organize new panel when we drop back to Rex and Maddies place in a couple of weeks. Our friends from Glen Waverley (Met in Tassie at Godfrey's Beach) Rex and Maddie arrived about 3pm so caught up with all our travel tales over dinner and drinks.

After refitting the DP Chip to Rex and Maddies V8 Toyota we made a late start next morning to Sale (should have checked the weather forecast first though) the head and side winds were horrendous especially for Rex as his van is 26ft in length, so to the back roads for slower mode of travel even then still very windy. Arrived at Paradise Beach Campsites and we were lucky enough to get a couple of sites before Tuesday as they seemed to fill up quick then. The wind is dropping off and nice days and nights.

The campsites here are FREE and a Rubbish Collector drives through on certain days/times and for a fee of approx $2/Lge garbage bag relieves you of the rubbish as there are no Bins and the Camp is quite clean and has not so smelly Drop Toilets. While driving into Sale Rex happened to see a Toyota L/C 6x6WD Ute which he recognized as it belonging to a German couple whom Kim and I met in the Flinders at Willow Creek Free Camp and 2weeks later come across them again for a Happy Hour with Rex and Maddie at Trezona Camp also in the Flinders. They are visiting us tomorrow to catch up about their and our travels. They tow this 5.7 tonne Toyota Ute behind their Unimog M/Home with BMW Motorcycle and 14 ft boat/30 hp motor plus 2 kayaks certainly a go anywhere setup.

So hope everyone from Greens is well and travelling ok.

Cheers from Kev and Kim.

Great spot Paradise Beach. Numerous camp sites along the ocean then you come to a little town, Seaspray. After camping a few nights, is was time for a Caravan Park (washing clothes etc !) so checked in at the CP in Seaspray. This was 2 years ago, good rate, around $22.00 with power. The CP has been upgraded and checking the web site, powered sites now range from $27.50 to $35.00. Priced themselves out of the GN market...

Love travelling the Alpine Way -great scenery.

We are in Seymour till Friday, when I fly to Brisbane for the weekend, and Billeeeeeee heads to Ararat for a look around at the old buildings.

Travel safe, and will see you on the road.

Almost a doubble , we have German friends in Vic at the moment & he drives a Unimog with his own self built M/Home on it. Iv'e had a drive of the mog when it was a cab/chassis.

His wife drives the 6 wheel drive v8 cruiser with camper body, a 650 BMW on the rear of the tray, A boat & two kayaks on top.

They were going to tow the cruiser but both vehicles are out to the max weights.
