Weber Baby Q

Received a new BBQ for Christmas to use in the motorhome and now the problem is to accommodate it. I was thinking of a gas bayonet to run from the twin gas bottles already on board and my question is where to locate it. I was thinking of putting the bayonet in the front locker under the gas cooker instead of an exterior plug that collects all the dirt etc. Has anyone else done this and the cost involved. I realise that this has to be carried out by a gasfitter and be certified.

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

Not a Baby Q but still a BBQ as well as a stove..lol..

Look closely on the left of the box and you will see where I have put the bayonet..

I can't give you any idea of cost as I am a retired LP Gas fitter and had all the stuff to do the job on hand.. it took about 30 mins when I had the box out as there is a gas line under it going to the HWS

G'day Gwain.I put mine underneath near the end of the A frame when not in use I use a piece of foam tube about 100 ml long to protect the bayonet end ,so far 8000 Kay's it's good ! I also bought a 1200 ml long gas easy hooker so that the BBQ can keep away from the van for safety.I am a licensed plumber but to get it set up won't break the bank when you consider the use it will get . Cheers John

A tip for placement is keep it out and away from under the awning as all that lovely smoky grease will tend to form on the underside of the awning.

Ok it will be more susceptible to the wind but a much better and safer option, we saw a Baby Q catch fire after the chap forgot to punch holes in the foil under his trivet and the chicken he was cooking dropped fat which pooled and then caught fire ! quite scary to watch.

Not knocking the Weber we love ours and use it daily, our bayonet it at the far rear nearside corner.

Hi all

If you read all the instructions the Weber peeps advise NOT to put any sort of foil under the burners for the reason that banjo stated. There is a considerable risk of fat (and other bits) collecting and catching fire. The drain angle of the Weber casting allow most deposits to drain away and a quick once over with a BBQ wipe fixes up the rest.

Cheers

g,day mate , we,ve had a baby q since we hit the road , got a longer hose for it , but my view is because it uses bugger all gas we just use it on a 4 ,5 kg bottle , that way we can put it wherever we want it , out the back , down the side , in the shade , great bbq , fantstic for roasts , cooks nice and slow
enjoy

Hi, I am about to buy a baby q for my van. I have an ext bayonet fitted but I want an extension hose now so the BBQ sits outside the awning (I was told the awnings can stain over time from the cooking.) But the prices on the hoses seems all over the shop. High prices, cheap prices. Not sure if some people see me coming or if there is something special about the ext hose for a Baby Q. Can anyone tell me their experience with extension hoses??? I only need about a metre of hose. $60 at Jayco shop????? Gosh!

We bought one of THESE from Bunnings today for $18.50 you should be able to install it between your BBQ and current hose using the adaptor supplied
