Between Christmas & New Years Day we received junk mail advertising HOT CROSS BUNS!! Surely there's no need to start so early, Easter Sunday is not until 20th April. Next we'll be urged to buy our 2014 Christmas pressies. The mind boggles!

We went onto Coles on new years day and yes, hot cross buns from the fresh bakery.
Nothing like getting in early.

Woollies sold last year for nearly 1.5 BILLION dollars of Hot x Buns

so there is plenty of ask for
as soon it hits 26th of december the shops HAVE to make them

I'm not bothered about them being for easter, I just like them. So when they're available  

At least they're not expecting us to pay $100's for unwanted presents at easter (yet)

I make them in my bread maker. Just drop a bunch of vanilla sugar, mixed spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, sultanas and currents in with the bread mix.
