Difficult 3 pin plugs - insertion and removal.

Maybe I'm the only one, but the newer types of wall electrical outlets and the newer style of 3 pin plugs seem to be harder to insert and remove. They feel rough and seem to grab on removal....just a cheap feeling about it. Maybe it's the cheap and nasty electrical items we can only buy these days but it got so bad with me that one time trying to remove the plug from the outlet resulted in me pulling the outlet partially off the wall.

The solution is pretty simple - it may not be politically correct or 'by the book' but it works. Get a can of pressure pack lanolin and either give a quick squirt in each of the 3 holes OR spray the prongs on the plug and insert.  Wipe off any excess and just a split second spray will do. The plug then will insert and remove like a finger in you know what. The lanolin will leave a lubricating film that will last for some time.

Yes, I have been told that the cheaper gpo is more difficult to use.
I have noticed this also

Some of our new appliances have 'grab holes' in the plugs which make it so much easier to insert and remove.

Actually lanolin is not the best the redidue can collect dust & lead to high contact ELECTRICAL resistance

CRC 2-26

Is specically designed to clean & lubricate electrical contacts !

Good advice re CRC Denis.

But the plug shouldn't be tight,,, I've previously cleaned some rough edges off the plug tangs,,, small file or glasspaper can round off sharp edges and they often fit better.

The plug-holes in our caravan are horribly tight, the same appliances plug in and out easily in the house. Not sure why, maybe the power-points are Jayco specials. Will try the CRC, Thanks.
