Am after recommendations for a tow vehicle for towing a 30' 5th wheeler approximately GVWR of around 4000 kg.
Am looking at Iveco C50C21 due cost, but there seems to be doubt as to its capability to do the job, are there members out there that are using this vehicle and how do you find it.
Other vehicle are GMC or Ford F series but these can be quite expensive.
As an interest my wife just priced a new GMC tow vehicle with most of the fruit, 6.6 litre Cummins diesel, 7 speed auto, etc, etc. Over $140,000. Stay with the Iveco. Not fast but should be reliable. Drove an Iveco Stralis 550hp prime mover. Really comfortable and only became a problem after the 1,000,000 kms mark.

There is a member here; Freehazzas that are using the Iveco to tow a fifth wheeler, maybe worth talking to them.
We recently bought a dual cab C50 18 Iveco, fitted it with a alloy canopy, boat etc;(pics in show your rig on both units) Towing a 20ft van as well.
Just done a short shakedown trip, about 2750kls, love it .IF you look at one of these go for the ISRI seats; suspension truck seats.

Have replied to your pm. Those saying Ivecos may not do the job, have no idea and have never had one. We love ours and they are very popular with fifth wheelers and aslo huge 35ft horse trailers ( goosenecks) horse people were using them long before we all got on noard.
Has no prob pulling our rig, all up 4.5tone of weight. We tow at around 90kms and get 14.8 L/100ks.
We have just spent a month in the high country on gravel roads and it goes as well as anything else we have driven. We had a brand new patrol before this and would never go back now.
For those who have no idea, the Iveco daily we have can pull a breaked trailer of 3.5 tone or up to a 5.5 tone fifth wheeler. It can also carry over 2 tone on the back of the tray. No problemo. The twin turbos can pull a lot more weight in fifth wheelers.
Thank you all for your replies to date, they have been very helpful & have certainly been of great help in our research, we have decided to strive for the 50C21 or greater.
As I have a strong mechanical maintenance back ground I have come across a computer diagnostic program that would be of great advantage in carrying out any perceived issues & enable me to (hopefully) carry out most repairs or computer resets that may occur.
While holidaying recently in Coffs harbour I spoke with the Maintenance manage for Iveco & found him very helpful & informative.
My wife & I are really starting to get excited about the future of traveling :) , (albeit still about 2 years until I retire) we feel that it will take us that long to get ourselves set up.
Please keep information/suggestions coming.
Also ideas on the best 5th wheeler, we are looking at possibly Heritage Glen 286RLT or Flagstaff Classic 8528 RKWS or similar.
