ISISFORD BARCOO CAMP

Howdy all, just wondering anyone been out at the barcoo river camp at ISISFORD since MAy this year??. A wonderfull place to stay but  have heard on the grapevine the only pub that was going and the girls done a damm good meal was Clancy's Overflow Hotel. Gossip was the licenseee couldn't be found or didn't want to renew the pub license. It would be a shame if it had to be shutdown as i think the other pub was also closed.

cheers to all.....Crocodile

We stayed at Isisford August just gone, the "Clancy" has re-opened, it is still owned by the same owner of two years ago, he is a Dutch man, but so i was told he was found to be in Australia without permanent residence so was shipped back to Holland & was not issued with a new licence, so a local couple [farmers just out of town] applied for a license under their own name and now manage & run the Hotel. The question i had was how did he obtain a license when he first brought the place three years ago,[ that's when we first met him.]
The other pub was also open, & offers free camping in the pub grounds if you eat there, but very small grassed area, but hi does supply power.

Cheers

There was two pubs when we spent a week there a few years back. I do remember the publican tho. About 3 am him and another bloke were having a chat right out side our van down on the river.
I told him "nicely" to go home.

We camped behind the second pub back in 2011, bit of a dump from memory, paid $15.00 per night, power & water.  There was, however, a guy there called Al, who pointed us in the right direction to catch a feed of Yellow Belly.

The freedom camp on the river was very popular.

As for Clancy's, we went there quite a few years back (in the late 90's) on a motor bike tourout west, joined a hysterical society bus trip, which ended up at Clancy's, where we had dinner and a recital of Clancy of the Overflow.  No sight of any Dutchman then.
