This is a poem, unchanged, was composed by my great grandfather in Irvinebank Qld in 1905. Only just discovered.
Twas xmas day in Irvinebank in 1904
the boys rode in from emu creek
lordy lordy how they swore
There was horny Bill and Cloudy
big Pete and Arthur too
They ate they drank they fought they swore
they tore their sunday clothes
Big Pete fell off the old bay horse
and barked his roman nose
They sang they danced and Wingy took
the place of the MC
and George the Hun was called upon
to sing the Barney bree
At last they all fell off to sleep
and silence did prevail
poor Wingy drempt that he was back
in sunny New South Wales
Big Pete drempt that he had found
a bincer Wolfram show
When Fire-Ball awoke from a drunken spree
saying boys wake up and let us go
Never get so busy making a living
that you forget to make a life
