PJ's New Saddlebags!

G'day all y'all. Decided to give my beloved PJ a Chrissy prezzie or two... two new saddlebags (as I like to call them) for extra storage...

A grab handle at the back door and (if you can see it) an awning-saver wheel at the top corner of the door. I have two awnings - side and rear.

Also chains for the side drop downs to turn them into a handy bench...

Not pictured (cos it's boring) is a piano hinge fitted to the panel behind the fridge for easy access to the pilot burner for cleaning. etc. So it looks like PJ is getting all the prezzies this year and I'm gettin' nuthin'.

GK hi nice work.

A bit of light ply wood estropoled on the inside of the long doors I have found makes them real user friendly.

Watching the progress, looking good. Cheers.

Thanks for all the poz comments, boils and goils. And Bill, the bloke who fitted them (boiler maker by trade) said he had a bit of trouble with them but eventually sorted it out. I used the little Fuji camera to take a couple of "blind" shots inside the saddlebags then cropped them. First shot below is the 1/4" steel plate he used to bolt the tops of the boxes to the ute tray rib. The second shot is the frontl, the sloping wall behind the mud flap. He's bolted the mud flap to the box as well. So it all looks good to me, and feels very solid. Fingers crossed.

Looks stronger than mine  .I initially fixed them with teq screws but the used bolts when the screws got loose. See , boilermakers are fairly useful people.(I am a boilerbasher, too) Bill

Any problems with electrolytic corrosion with the use of steel against the aluminium?

I call them "blind" shots, Dougwe. Stick the arm in, press the shutter and hope for the best. Works in wombat holes as well.
