1900amp Jump Starter

Just a quick question if I may that I hope gets a quick answer and no arguments please.

I have one of the above Jump Starters and the question is, if it goes completely flat, like flat as a tack, will it charge back up to a good state OR put simply, will it be buggered???????

By the way, my jump starter is not in that state. Just a question for future reference.

G'day Doug

They normally have complete sealed battery's in them
It should be good when you recharge it with a smart charger

I think ( but who am I )

I had a sealed battery for windscreen repairs and that lasted for 9 years

cheers John

I have one of these 1900 ah jump starters and I believe they have 2 deep cycle batteries inside them, and I believe if they go dead flat they may be cactus, I stand to be corrected.

I have one also and keep it fully charged. I plug it into 240 V every month and leave it for 24 hours. Any battery will give you longer life if you keep it fully charged. Will it be buggered if you let it go flat ? How long is a piece of string !!

Any SLA battery doesn't like being completely flattened, but if you recharge it straight away it should be ok. But if left for a week it starts to get iffy.

Me guess is that it would charge up again without too much worry..
I have a couple of UPS's running my Wireless Broadband System and if the power is off for too long the batteries finish up totally flat and they always come back up again when the power comes back on..

Provided that you don't leave it flat for very long it should come back OK.

Some intelligent chargers will not charge a battery from flat due to the fact that they need to detect a certain minimum voltage before they start.

To overcome this, you can parallel a good battery to the flat one to get the charger started, or alternatively use a plain transformer/diode charger to start with.

Thanks all, I might just make sure it doesn't go flat as they aren't cheap and would have to buy a new Jump Starter.

G'Day Doug,   you can just buy the battery alone either off Ebay or most auto shops....a fraction of the cost of a new jump starter. I have a small unit that's almost 12 years old - been totally flat a few times and keeps jumping back..

Regards
