I am trying to find out if all caravan sinks are the same size and if so where could I get a cover that goes over the sink so I have more bench space. If any one has one could they possibly let me know where they got it. I am in WA and our new van should arrive late February so I am in the process of fitting it out so we can hit the road as soon as it arrives.
The one I have is the same surface as the table in the van but on a thin board. It covers the sink and drainboard in one which prevents the sink being used. I don't know if it would last long as a chopping board but in saying that at home we used the cut out from the cook top when it was installed years ago as a chopping board and its still going strong.
We had the same problem with our Coromal, so I traced around the sink with a piece of cardboard to make a template. Then off to Bunnings and got a piece of Marine ply cut it, stained it the same colour as the rest of the van and stuck rubber matting on the reverse to stop movement and viola more bench space
We did the same as C1, made a cover, stained it to match the rest of the woodwork in the van and then stuck the non-skid rubber underneath. Very handy for that extra bench space, especially when preparing the meal or when serving the meal onto the plates. A bit of extra bench space never goes astray. Cheers, Annie
Our van came with one from new, which the manufacturers recommend we not leave over the sink when travelling. It was a wooden chopping board, suitable to double as a breadboard. We quickly "left it behind" somewhere, due to weight constrictions.

DUNMOWIN is no longer on the road and still DUNMOWIN!
Our van came with one, we used it on our first 1 week trip and then it was relegated to the garage somewhere. We found the issue was when we wanted to use the sink we had to put it somewhere, which was inconvenient and ended up taking up more space than we gained.
Hi Johnty, if it's a new van should come with one my Jayco did, also you can get them from the Jayco toy shop
or at Camec who have a range of different shapes and also act as a chopping board.
Cost about $35-00.
I have a large chopping board that I take from home that fits over the sink only and can easily be put behind tap if I need to get into sink. My original cover stays at home too!
Thank you all for your help. I am not sure if our van will come with one as it is a Nova not Jayco. I was wanting a light weight one, not a heavy timber board because of the weight issue. I have sent an email off to Nova so I will see if they get back to me.
We have had them for both caravans we have owned and always leave them at home. I need the sink too much too. I use the table if I run out of bench space and that hasn't happened much either

Coincidentally, I have just sent the same email to NOVA.
Just a little idea. If you get one made out of Plastic like a chopping board stuff (easy to fine and get cut) then they have many uses inside and outside van when camping fish board, barbeque bench, breakfast lap table, serving board for cheese etc at happy hour. They are also light.

I dont know where you live but most main cities have companies that use industrial plastics. Dotmar is one that is reasonably widespread. The other good thing about using companies like this is they often have off cuts ( and many offcuts are made of better grade materials). Dotmar have a number of webs sites. I have had all sorts of things made by them from rollers, cogs to culling boards. They also do things like wind deflectors for vans. Hope this helps
