Unpowered sites in caravan parks

Obviously prices vary across a state and across Australia but if

some people who use them could they maybe give me an average

under $20----$20 to $23---$23 to $26 or up up up

I have not stayed in one for a long time and when i get up and

running i would be looking at this as well as free camps when pos

as my o/nite stop

And many i,ve stayed at have either moderate or very good camp

kitchens

Weather permitting night/s under canvas      Thanks for a heads up

I found earlier in the year before I started doing alternative camping there was only about $5.00 difference between a power and un power site and starting around $20.00 up, depending on location of CVP, i.e. Coastal areas are much higher than small out of the way towns. If I want a CVP I usually check smaller towns first close to where I need. They are usually friendlier too.

The one and only CP I have ever pulled up at wanted $36 for an unpowered site so that was it for me...

In 5 years of traveling I have never been back to a CP..

Not sure what alternative camping is ????

Not surprised the smaller inland town would be less than coast

Would  cost difference be same as say small inland town

compared to large lake/reservoir or riverside CP

Thanks for your advise mate

We find in general, on average, the difference between a powered site and an unpowered one is about $5.
That's pretty much the same whether they charge $50 or $20 per night.
But unpowered sites aren't all lined up in rows and theres usually a camp kitchen or at least a communal BBQ, so we choose that.

Alternative Camping is "Free" or "Low Cost" i.e. Gold coin donation or similar.

In my opinion C41 you will pay more anywhere near water. Biggest problem for me is, I prefer being near water than inland, bugga.

There are many lakes and dams that have Free camping or similar.

Can I suggest you get a copy of "Camps Australia Wide" current edition is #7. You could also download "Wiki Camps" onto your poota, that's good too and growing with information all the time.

Edit....Sorry forgot to say there is a "Caravan Parks Australia Wide" as well. I find that good too when Looking for a CVP.

I always ask what the price difference is......
I am set up to not rely on mains electricity
a lot of the time there is only $2-5 difference between powered or unpowered, if this is the case i opt to charge everything up
it pays to ask the question i have found occasionally a $15 difference between power or not

We have also found that a lot of the "unpowered" sites are actually unserviced site as they have no water connection either.

I think the term unpowered could be misleading if the other normal services are excluded as well.

I have found that the unpowered sites are often in a better, less formal, and nicer section of the parks. Often further away from facilities in some parks. Plenty of exercise to go to the loo or showers.

The difference in powered or unpowered used to be about $3 but not any more since power has risen in price.

We have been on the road for nearly 2 years and have only paid for C/Parks on 5 nights.

however we are completely self sufficient.

One of the nights that we did stay in a park they charged $25 for unpowered and I was disappointed at the condition of the park.

 Thats my 2 bobs worth.

Cheers

Frank
