Carey Brook Campsites & Goblin Swamp - Boat Landing Road - Off Vasse Highway - South West Coase of WA

On a recommendation from Loki (Anton) visited this area which has great DEC Camping Spots and boat/canoe launching spot on the Donnnelly River and of course Goblin Swamp, see;

See if you can spot the Goblin in my pic's below, also a shot of the Snottygobble tree;

Drove though this area few months ago, and was really sorry we did not stop.

I got a heads up from Loki (Anton) who recommended it on the forum when he visited it awhile back.

Hope I can get back there in the future, however Sue's Bridge was my favourite.

will have to be on the next lap.  After Wagin, Yornaning Dam, then heading north, slowly - waiting for the heat and cyclone season, until we can do the Gibb - May/June....

Look forward to catching up at Yornaning, am waiting for some details from Cuballing Pub so we can organise a meal there one day/night while there, will check with everyone when we get there to see who's interested etc.

Never done the Gibb River Road, you have the right rig for it which is fortunate. smile

Someone told me if I ever do it be aware of 4WD drivers who come fast over the tops of the hills on the Gibb River in the middle of the road, apparently you get some cowboys doing it.   Will talk more at Yornaning....

Same on Oodnadatta Track.  Cowboys with camper trailer and 4WDs,  fly along, showering everything thing with gravel and dirt.  Wonder why they get smashed windscreens.

Unfortunately, can't do the national parks, Vic. Poor unenlightened souls have a problem with our dogs.

Darryl if you stayed at Sues Bridge, low coast campsite, that allows dogs on leads, also Big Valley CP off Sues Road or from Margaret River end (dogs allowed), you could use that as a base to explore the Carey Brook Goblin Swam etc.  Boat landing road leads down to the Donnelly River ramps.   That area is roughly half way between Alexander Bridge and Pemberton, even if you called in and left the dogs in the van while you had a look at Goblin Swamp (only a very short walk) I reckon you would be ok.  Continue on and have a look at the Landing as well.   The Snottygobble tree is in one of the photo's on that link, looks a little bit like a willow tree foliage.

The Big Broom Aboretum low cost camp site at Pemberton allow dogs (Council owned), see TO centre in Pemberton for map on how to get there, only 5kms from town, dam there has a beaut walk around it.

Sues Bridge:  http://parkstay.dpaw.wa.gov.au/camp-finder/viewproperty/sues-bridge/84/

Big Valley CP Farm Stay, dogs on lead ok: http://bigvalleymargaretriver.com.au/facilities/

Big Brook Aboretum (Pemberton):  http://parks.dpaw.wa.gov.au/site/big-brook-arboretum

Big Brook Dam Walk, on the way into the camp area, dogs allowed on lead, could ride your 3 wheeler around there too, see;

http://parks.dpaw.wa.gov.au/site/big-brook-dam-walk-track

All of the camping areas and CP above allow dogs and are in the Camps book.
