Thanks to the info from you all and particularly Barina, the issue is now resolved, I chased up a number of options today, the only real option I found was NRMA. i needed to pay new membership, premium cover and then premium plus memberships, this combination covets any vehicle upto 10,000kg, they don't care about height or length just the weight.
the cover is for the vehicle so it does not follow the driver
It does not matter which state you have as a mailing address, we are currently in SA, our. Mailing address is Vic , they will mail the membership card and details to Vic and have emailed me a proof of membership letter.
looks like a very similar cover to the Total care I had with RACV towing hire car accommodation etc if the breakdown cant be fixed.
thanks to the NRMA you people here and about $350 all done and dusted with peace of mind, but even more important.... Hazel is is happy!!

Would also check the fine print, I think it covers up to 200Km, but if you breakdown 200Km away its still around $2,000+ saving, and better still in the unlikey event that it happens more than once a year, I understand you are still covered.
