Battery Charger

Hello all - this may be in the wrong place - if so I apologise.  When I charge the battery in the camper 240 v. the charger itself gets rather warm - is this normal or should I contact the manufacturer?

How big is the battery, how deeply are you discharging it, what type of charger is it, what is its maximum current rating, and is it in an enclosed space devoid of air circulation?

A small device charging a deeply discharged large battery will stay in bulk mode for an excessive period where it is carrying its maximum current for too long , and can become hot for this reason.

Small chargers are not designed to operate at high demand for long periods as they do not have the heatsinking that this task demands

Many chargers have a cooling fan, and just about all of them have some form of thermal cutout to prevent overheating, but they can still feel quite hot.

You could contact the manufacturer but the first thing they will most likely do is ask the same questions that I just posed.
