Its hot, humid , and it rains a lot, but do you know what that means? Mango season! I planted a R2E2 Bowen variety a few years ago, and just eaten the first of the season. It was mouth watering delicious. Love my Mangos, and there is nothing better than eating ones you grew yourself. Bill

I remember the mango trees in Townsville in about 1973-5, they used to drop squashy fruit on the footpaths, and the locals used to say what awful things they were. So glad somebody up there likes them!
I took some pics, but the laptop won,t recognize the camera for some reason. Will post when I get it going.Aha! Got it working.Check the first post. Bill

Went to Bramston Beach , for a look, and came away with the impression that this place has polential, and not a caravan in sight! Lovely little creek sth of town, but very little phone or internet signal.Tow started a backpackers car and followed them back to Babinda free camp for the night. Very humid, and expect rain tonight. Will have a fish for the fabled tourist perch in the morning.Oh, and another mango. Bill
Bill we are in Katherine NT, have just about finished the mango season, they pack about 100 tonne a day. Hubbie brings some home for me, to slice or puree to take back
to family in Victoria for xmas. We did it last year too. Great way to boost the pension to keep on travelling.
We had a mango tree in the front yard but cut it down when we rebuilt the house a few years back.
We like most of our neighbours get sick & tired of dumping half a wheelie bin full of mangos every week.
When I want a mango I just go next door & take what I want. The only problem is they want me to take more
So they don't have to pick them up.
My daughter bought me a mango slicer. Marvelous invention, just push it thru the bottom of the mango and it cuts the cheeks off the mango. I think it was in one of
those catalogues that get left on your door step.
