GEEE IT'S BEEN GOOD

here on this great forum for the last week I reckon. No niggling or downing anyone, it's been great. People passing on great information on all sorts of things, people having a good chat and a few having a bit of fun and stirring but all in fun.

Good on ya fellow forumites, keep up the good posting.

I put this post here in general so most would see it, sorry if you think it should be somewhere else.

I am stuck in doors just at the moment due to thick smoke around town. I think there is a burn off going on. I can't even get the Avan out and make a run for it just at the moment. I really wish those in charge would let you know in advance though. It's really hard breathing out side. I will have a chat to someone later about that, probably won't do any good but worth a try.

Worth a try Doug - feel for asthmatics and people with other breathing problems! Might be worth a call to council anyway.

Totally agree with you Doug. Great to see everyone getting on so well. Harmony = Serenity
I would be complaining about the burnoff too. That's not on.

If Doug had not been at Greens for so long he probably would have read about it in the local paper or news
Chill out or harden up

confuseYeah !!! I agree with you Ken, Dougwe's being a little Princess wink he has spent the last year or so running  around, having a great time ? whilst I have been at work,  so ''toughen up princess wink biggrinbiggrin

And in his old age he has forgotten confuseconfuse That he 'requested'' the Council to do the Burn-off, ??? because he has paid for those professional 'Wombat hunters' to come in ?? and he wanted to make sure the wombats could not hide in the under growth ? wink  biggrinbiggrin

Doug,

This site should tell you about current burns as well as the CFA site if you're concerned about the smoke.

Thanks Janette, I have all states Fire Authority Apps etc but this one was a developer with a permit. No problem now as the wind has turned and coming from the south so back to town of wind and rain weather for a day or so.

It's no ones fault or problem as it's something I live with since the Ash Wednesday Fires here in Victoria many moons back.

Im in Lilydale Vic, On the side of Mt Dandenong, Burn Offs are better that Burn Outs,

I can see all the Bushfires burning From my place, Healesville, Kinglake, Yarra Glen, Warburton, Bunyip State Forest,

The only one that disturbs me is the fire and smoke from a fire on the southern end of the Dandenongs, Going north, I cant see it, Thats a worry,

But I am set up to stay and fight it, I wont be leaving,

My Pet Whinge. Is the CFA and DSE, Only tell you where the fire has been, Who cares, Its burnt out and completely safe,

Tell us where the fire is going, So people can get out in time,

These roads are totally inaccesible in times of fire, Winding narrow roads, Fires before and after you, You get trapped and burnt,

You cant see where the fire is, if your in it,

Google was the only one with a hot line from people stating where the fires were, and heading, Very Helpfull to the people involved, It saved quite a few lives,

I was talking to a copper from Mildura, That was blocking the road at the Threeways junction at Buxton, He didnt have a clue on the area,

He was listening to the fire reports on his police radio, I was telling him how far away the fires were, Most were about 15 miles away, Then one came in, Buxton servo was on fire.
He said wheres that, Considering we were in Buxton at the time, I said it was about 200 yards away and just around that corner, and I am out of here, Im heading for Alexandra, Fast, and you should too if you dont want to get cooked here,

My mate was in a convoy of cars running from Narbethong, The house they left was already burning, They stopped at between Narby and Buxton at a farm that had people fighting the fires, they had fires in front and back and on both sides, On the road,

The paint was blistering on the side of the house they had stopped at,
He said the fire was just about to go over the top of them, and the wind stopped and changed direction, Saving the eight of them in the house, Very Lucky,

I also fought the fires in 1984 in Gippsland that was started by the DSE to protect a small valley of unique Ferns, They lost the lot, It got well and truly out of hand,

And No, I am not moving from my Densely Treed home in the Hills, I hate suburbia with a vengance, I accept the fire risk, Its not a problem for me,

If the fire risk is too great where you live, Move out for a day or two, Till the fires gone, Simple,

Rant over, Have a nice day, Hahahahaha

We've just had some really bad fires, and I found out more by following the NSW RFS facebook page and tweets than actually being at Fire Control. I don't know if CFA have similar.
