This just brings to light the fact that locally produced products have to be inspected and paid for by the manufacturer. Imported products just get recalled when a problem is identified.

You are spot on 

Of course they are ALL "CLAIMED " to comply with AUS standards

But Most of the recalls for electrical products are for IMPORTED CLAIMED "complying"  gear

Lets not even think of Ebay gear bought from overeses sitesno
