The weather forecast changed 10 times in 4 days last week. A bit frustrating when a big birthday bash was planned for my husband. But it all happened (rained the night before) and apart from some grabbing jackets to keep warm, the afternoon - or 'late lunch' as I had called it - went fantastically. He had a ball. 76 people wished him Happy Birthday. We got everything packed away 'just in case' it rained. And it rained, and rained and rained and the garden that had been a beautiful party scene was a flooded creek. It all cleared away within 24 hours and the creek now runs at a nice speed!
Then 3 days later our daughter had a birthday. She had already gone home after helping at the party. We rang to wish her Happy Birthday but then got another phone call from her in the afternoon. What a surprise! She had rung to say her second birthday present from her boyfriend (of almost 6 years) was a sparkling diamond ring! She was in tears of excitement. 'I'm getting married!' She's been waiting for that for a long time. The rogue of a boyfriend had asked my husband if he could marry her last Christmas but asked him to keep it a secret. Hubby kept saying, 'It'll happen.' The boyfriend had taken 18 mths to pay off the ring... he's spoilt her.
So it's been quite a week. We've now restored our home to sanity after waving goodbye to the last of the family this morning. Oh for a nice sleep tonight... and a good forum catch up.
Welcome back Ruth!
Glad it all went well, and you and Neil and all your guests had a lovely time. Many happy returns to Neil!
Great to see your daughter happy for a great reason!
Thanks Gerty. My only break in the last 10 days was 30 minutes on the computer to catch up on emails and banking! The baby was in the study. And life was hectic.
