Where to hide during peak season

Here, here Red Dog I'm with you...however its a Bundy for me....being a former Queenslander & I recall I was four years old, when I thrust my Mum's breast aside, and asked for my first Bundy mate..! Where do you do your gold detecting?...I'm in the Golden Triangle Victoria...there is no peak season for us prospectors....just peace and quiet among the Roos,Wallabys and echidnas and Joe Blakes.....Hoo Roo

I spend a lot of my time in around leonora and menzies I find it a very easy place to lose yourself in time

I am also an ex Queenslander born and raised in Cairns.

I noticed a story in the GN mag about peak holiday seasons and crowded camp sites and caravan parks. So how do full-time travellers solve that little problem? Where do you hide from the families and schoolies during peak times as well as the exorbitant fees?

House-sitting is a possibility.

Yep, off the beaten track or house minding. Can't see any other options, really.

In the past we have travelled long distances to be with family but have decided to do something different this year, but what? In the end, we might stay home (yes at a house! ) since half the country's population seems to come to our town during the holidays, there must be some reason to be here, we might see what it is!

Any nice little town out of the over populated areas is good. Where there are no playgrounds and things to attract young families.
