Hi, My name is Brian and I am a newby at this forum and I was wondering does any one know about weather proof 240 sockets to fit on back of car for a Waeco fridge that is permanently in vehicle so when in caravan park do not have to keep opening back of Prado to plug it into 240 volts.
HI Brian
Fitting such an inlet & then a socket inside , requires a licensed electrical contractor to do the work
IT is considered FIXEd wiring
Certain safety precautions have to be taken,[including earthing] But I would suggest you have a 10Amp CARAVAN inlet fitted ,rather than the usual 15A caravan inlet
SPECIFY CARAVAN inlet, AS they meet the requirements of the STANDARDS
This will allow te use of an APPROVED 10A extension lead ANYWHERE [CP , hme! freinds ,Show ground etc)
IT will require a RCD /10AMCB to be also fitted & wired in!!

On a fishing charter in Darwin a few months ago. Six crabs but no Barramundi but they tasted good. Have to wait and hope someone can help me on my question.
Where and how are you intending to mount this inlet?
You could feasibly use a normal caravan type inlet plug, but it would need to be well enclosed and moisture proofed at the back and protected from impact damage, you should also employ an RCD for personal protection.
The work would need to be done by a qualified tradesman to ensure legality.
An alternative to the caravan inlet, would be the Clipsal surface mount CL156A1310 or the flush mount CL156A1310LE.
