Hi all, currently (and hopefully, briefly) in Brisbane, and read an article in today's Courier Mail, asking Grey Nomads to visit farmers in drought in western Qld to just drop in and say Hi!
We are being recruited to help drought stricken farmers overcome mental health issues borne by their struggle with the big dry that is crushing their livelihoods. Sharing a cuppa and a sympathetic ear was what the farmers need the most. Farmers in drought stricken rural communities were more vulnerable than every to suicide. This has been copies in part from the paper article - sorry I dont' have access to a scanner at the moment.
Aussie Helpers is the name of the organisation - no contact details have been given......
