Got a dodgy bloody leg

Have a bloody infection in my leg, off to the hospital every day to have my dose of antbiotics straight in the jugular (at least the vien in the hand), Elevate your leg they say, thats all well and good but when living in a van its not the easiest but doing alright most of the time. Still gotta pee you know. Feeling very house bound ATM, wouldn't mind a scotch about now but that's off the menu too. Just to top it off I have had a squeak in my vehicle for a day or so, today as in keeping off my feet I layed under the vehicle (keeping leg elevated of course) to have a look and found a unijoint in sad repair, another job to do.

cheers

They reckon trouble comes in 3's ... at least they're not keeping you in the hospital. How did you get such a bad infection?

Hope it gets better soon blaze, the vehicle is the least of your problems with your background, but the physical body is another story.

Hopefully the anti-biotics will clear it up.    smile

Ouch! Up and down caravan steps can be a pest at times like this eh? Is it cellulitis? Best of luck Blaze, hang up your leg, get your jabs and it will be over eventually.

You won't have to worry about the uni-joint at the moment - just need to get the leg better first - just a question how did you keep your leg elevated when under the vehicle?

Re the squeaky universal joint - you could try saturating it in WD40 or similar but what I'd do is get a few handfulls of grease and massage it in and around the joint...squeeze it in tightly around the joint just like when greasing a wheel bearing race in your hand. This should force a bit of grease into the needle bearings and give you a few more miles. This admittedly is messy but when you need breathing space it can help.
Re the leg infection I can relate...they are hard to get rid of for some reason or other....a doc mate of mine told me that it's because if the very minimal blood flow to the leg. Bits of your body that heal the quickest have the best blood supply.
Good Luck.

Great advice regarding the universal joint Hako. It will give Blaze breathing space at the very least.

Use the Scotch to heal the leg from the inside,  it is the only way to go.  Good Scotch must be taken orally and not used as an embrocation.

Try some manuka honey ?? Work mate fell through a air conditioning hole in floor and badly opened up his shin..
Didn't heal .. Tried antibiotics etc.. A Chinese Dr wrapt it in some iodine solution and honey .. Within a week the wound was healing big time..

Wow, I can really relate to your painful leg.  In the tropics years ago we found bathing the wounds in hot water with vinegar did the trick. The water has to be as hot as you can tolerate.  The tropics doesn't help healing, and the old advice of walking in the sea water doesn't apply either, because the water is too warm, and their are some foreign enzymes in it which can make it worse.

I don't know who's going to fix your vehicle, but I found Walcott Street Autos very quick, helpful and didn't charge like a wounded bull.  I left Broome in 2007, and I've no idea if they're still operating, but I'd recommend them.
