waste hoses are usually 10 mt so yoy can cut it in 2 and get a joiner from bunnings etc
i carry 1 x 10mt length and 2 x 5 mt in hose bags i got from e bay. they have a pocket you can fit extra connectors in

We bought the 10 metre length and cut it in 2 and carry a joiner. Usually only need the 1 X 5 metre one. With the 2 joined together you'll reach most drains and any longer and the internal friction of the hose will make it take forever to drain IMO.

My sullage hose is the 'normal' 10 metre one - I haven't cut it yet - but, when I do, I'm thinking a 40/60 split.

If I just cut in half as most do, I'd have a 5m + a 10m (2x5), but if I cut into 4m and 6m, then I have THREE combinations, 4m, 6m and 10m - over the last 12 months of vanning, I've measured the distance from van outlet to sullage drain, and for around 45% of the time a 4m would suffice, the 6m would do for maybe another 45% of the time, and the full 10m for only 10% of the time. At the moment of course, I'm rolling out the full 10m and in most cases snaking the excess under the van. The other problem with a full 10m length, is the gravity resistance slows the drain down considerably - if I use the shorter lengths I should get quicker drainage.

Just my 2 cents worth. I haven't cut yet as I'm still looking for reasonably priced joiners - the usual outlet for these wants an arm and a leg for them.

Regards, Brian

I have had the same delima and have come up with this idea,

I cut my 10mt x 1" hose in to 3 x 3 mt lengths and bought two male end tails and two female swivel nut tails, I have fitted under the van a 3.0mt length of 100mm drain pvc pipe fitted a blank one end and a removal screw cap the other, all 3 hoses now easily slide into the pipe and I can have a 3, 6 or 9 mt length combo.
and if you did the maths correct I have a 1mt piece left, well thats because I could only get comfortably underneath the van a 3mt length of pipe, still thinking what to do with the spare 1mt, should use it to whip my horse I bet on the Melbourne cup as recon he is still trotting in!so no new motorhome for me this year!

When packing up there is no messing on ur shoes and doing a snake charm song to get the hose to correctly curl around enough to go into the shadecloth bag, only to find it is just too big to all go in, funny how the next door dudes always seem to be around to watch you perform this feat, yawn

Now in a gentelmanly fashion, I just unscrew the threaded end, slide the hose/s down the pipe, rescrew on the cap......jobs a goodin, and when it comes out at the next stop, it lays nice n flat/straight.biggrin

Our van is a 17 ft Sterling outback and so does have increased ground clearence.

I can take some picks if anyone likes,
