How long is a piece of string ! I found when shopping around, the premium for my MH was around 10% or a little more of the value. I found the best deal with APIA after being with Ken Tame & Associates, who shafted me after a recent claim when I was not at fault.

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
that is a bit of a hard question to answer I think.
best bet would be to go on to an insurance website and do an online quote. there is no obligation to buy the policy you get the quote on and you can do several insurance companies that way and pick the best for you.

We used to have ours with AAMI $730 seen an add on TV for YOUi insurance so thought I would give them a call for a price, on the new van, which is more expensive than the old van. The price was only $540 with all the cover we want. Like anything you have to look around the greenslip on the car is also due in December NRMA $573 got it on line for $405 go figure?? dam insurance its just a rort!!
We are with CIL and our renewal has just come in on our camper van .... No changes that would affect the rating, 1 storm claim, no reduction in no claim bonus, agreed value reduced by $1000, 1 storm claim, premium is same as last year

We have been with Ken Tame for as long as we have had a MH and in the past no other insurer could get near him but when our last renewal came up I decided to give MHIA a ring coz all the caravaners we run into on the side of the road have been giving them a good rap....
The long and the short of it is that MHIA now have our custom..
Had my van insured with NRMA and had several policies with them I did an on line check with NRMA and found if I did the quote as a new policy holder it was cheaper than with my supposed multi policy and loyalty discount, that was two years ago and I now shop around each year on line prior to renewing and I am now using GIO.

MHIA = Manufactured Homes Insurance Assn..
MHIA haven't insured touring caravans for several years now.
They will only insure motorhomes, on site vans & relocatable homes.
I use Ken Tame and is less than a grand for car and van. You have to do both if you want Ken Tame and you have to be a member of cmca. They are excellent for claims, Had two minor ones over the past few years
My opinion ...... Might I suggest you google YouI insurance reviews Or any other company you are considering .... a bit of a mixed bag, also make sure you understand the difference between an insurance agent, a broker and an insurer and who works for you and who works for the insurer, especially in the case of a claim or dispute. The conflict rarely arises but It can in a dispute or a claim that is referred to the insurer. also be aware of what is known in the industry as Honeymoon Rates which is your first year premium .... Lookout for the increase at renewal ..... This is why it is common to get a cheaper premium from your current insurer as a new policy than your renewal offer. This often happens when you get an online quote ....

maybe we are in a different world,,, ALL of the above work FOR the insurer,,, they pay them as well. Otherwise agree with what you say above.
As for Google,,, too many paid ads skew results, PLUS WHAT IS ACCURATE FEEDBACK OR PLACEBO. Yahoo similar SEARCH WISE but will produce different results to search quite often.

Hi everybody. Please check very carefully the fine print of what is covered and what is not. Whilst on the subject of insurance may i suggest you check out www.yourshare.com.au which allows you to claim back money on the insurance policies you have. Something to do with hidden commissions that are claimed and no longer valid and you are entitled to claim back. Happy and safe travelling to everyone whilst on the road and hope you never ever have to claim on that insurance policy.
I looked at YourShare and it appears it is an insurance agent acting for auto and general ... did not go into the refund of fees and commissions thing ... Sounded a bit sus as they get fees and commissions also. I did however find a site that appears to have a lot of info on the various insurers and agents, their premiums and levels of cover. Have never posted links, so here goes
www.drive.com.au
The site is a couple of years old, but may give you info - although not current. I always wondered why insurers now ask the colour of your car, even working in the industry, i never knew .... Yes, I worked for the Dark Side - a broker or one of the bad guys as we were sometimes called and even on this site..... lol (retired and redeemed now.) now)....
Also read the reviews.
Hope this is of interest to you

That's interesting about YourShare ..... All I can think is it may only apply if you deal direct with the insurer and not through a broker as they actually deduct all the commission payable to them from their remittance to the insurer ..... No way is any insurance company going to give you what they have already paid to a broker ... Past or present. From what I have read it appears that one of the main benefits is in the areas of home loans/mortgages, superannuation and life insurance type policies where you deal with a financial planner type of person and there are set up and exit fees and charges etc payable. Oh well, Good luck, hopefully it will turn out the way it is promoted.
