G'day Chris and Michelle. Difficult question, so I googled Avida Esperance, and the ones shown in the adverts came fully equipped even with glasses of wine served ready for you.
If that isn't actually the case, you need to think about how you will be living in your M/home, hooking up to electricity and water in Caravan parks?... you need a 15 amp power cord, and drinking-water hose with a small collection of tap fittings because they are always different. You'll need a drain hose or bucket too. If you have an on-board cassette toilet? you'll need some Woollies generic Napisan to keep it smelling nice.
For sitting under your awning you are gonna need some comfy chairs and a table etc.... this list could go on and on...
Try spending a night or two in it in your own back yard and you will get a good idea of the main requirements.
Thanks for the quick reply Gerty, It does have a fair bit on board so I suppose we wont need a lot as it is fairly well equipped. I suppose we were looking for the must need things that we may not know about :) We have most of the things you have mentioned included but am trying to negotiate other things I may need :)
Welcome travellingaustralia, after being on the road for three weeks in my Wirraway which is well equipped, here are a few things that I did not know I needed but do now.
A 15amp converter box, a plunger, a 4 way vandal proof tap key, a clothes line, 12 amp leads(which I haven't not got yet), a good sense of humour, levelling track thingies, not sure what the real name is but they come in orange and yellow and will need them to level the MH when parked up, a small three way spirit level to put on the floor to make sure you are level, can be bought from Auto spare shops, just little things that you do not realise you need and nobody tells you about until you need them in a hurry. Ohhh and a small table or chair to put your feet up on when relaxing, another small folding table to put beside the chair for that all important drink and nibbles.
then you go out and learn as you go and I have found that there are plenty of wonderful people out there that will be more than willing to assist you.
Good luck and have fun.

Thank you for your reply shekon, can I ask why we need a 15 amp converter box ? We are very newbie LOL And why 12 amp leads, do they trickle in the power or is it due to the batteries ? Im sure we will pick up a lot as we go along and so far here people like yourself have been very helpful.
Think about how you would free camp and what you may need - like power source - is your battery capacity enough, how about solar capacity, do you think you will need heating (eg diesel heater) - how many LPG cylinders are there - ideally it should be two otherwise you are stuck if the only one runs out and this generally runs your fridge, hot water and cooking when free camping.
Looking at the specifications of your motor home I doubt that you will need anything extra to be ready to set off as soon as you pick it up, it seems to be provided with just about everything already, just set out on your travels and if you find you need something additional you can buy it as you go, maybe a couple of comfortable chairs to relax outdoors there are plenty to choose in many colours and styles.
wow wow wow and do they come in Red to :))
what a nice truck
I Just found out that I can run an 70 ltr fridge with freezer on a 120 watt solar panel
and 100 amp battery and no problems when it is above 30 C
that leaves the old type with gas for dead
You need 25% of you first think you will need. We have a good quality square frypan with lid and this does most of our cooking. Can even bake on top of the stove. Have one other saucepan with a matching steamer. Other than the Thermos Pot no other cooking stuff left in bus.
My fresh water hose (get a blue, food quality one rather than a regular garden hose) was the bane of my life until I bought a hose bag for it. Some caravan parts places have them but I bought mine on e-bay. Wine glasses are an essential item - I buy them at op shops for about $1 ea 'cos that way it doesn't matter how many I break. Yes I know you can get plastic ones but I have standards ....
Thank you all, the information is much appreciated, just a question from Michelle......Hairdryer ?
Hairdryer only if plugged into 240v or running decent size generator.
Maybe an inverter to run small appliances and the essential hair straightener at times!
Anything that plugs into 240v and has an element (toaster, hair dryer etc) will suck thru more power than you could store in a couple of 100ah batteries and a few solar panels!
have fun out there...you can always pick up the bits and pieces you find you need, as you go.
I carry a 240 volt hair dryer in the caravan for special occasions when we are in a caravan park. I didn't use it at all on our last 2 trips! I wear a hat most of the time, having skin problems on my face, so hair-do's matter less. The sun and wind will dry it for you for free.
Thanks for the info but should I get solar on my new Avida Esperance along with a generator ? How long if I am free camping will the batteries last ? And can I run the A/C without use of the generator ? Sorry for all the questions....
