Hi Peter

We are in the process of joining the GN's and are trying to decide between a 5th wheeler and regular van. I'm attracted to the Winjana or Venturevan for the road handling and ease of maneuvering but wife is not sure about sleeping access. Ford Ranger is possibly the tug of choice at present but we could be persuaded otherwise by strong views from anyone else.

If you have any thoughts on why you chose a 5th W and the Winjana in particular, I would love to hear your views.

Cheers, Bob

Bob, one thing you may want to consider if you intend getting a 5th wheeler and want to use a Ford Ranger or Mazda BT50 as a tow vehicle is the height of the tray.  You may require a lift kit on the 5th wheeler to raise it and this will likely add to the cost of the unit.  I have a Cutloose 5th wheeler and a 2012 Isuzu Dmax and no lift kit was required.  Very happy with our rig and the towing stability is great.  Good luck with your endeavours and when you get your rig, enjoy the hell out of it.biggrin

Thanks Guys, appreciate your thoughts. The Cutloose looks very nice so we'll add that onto the wish list!

We fully intend to "enjoy the hell out of it" once we get mobile!

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the forum from one newbie to another!

We did a lot of research & chose the 5th W for the handling & manoeuvring capability.  Winjana as it was 'local' in Toowoomba and also they do a version which has the bed down at floor level the the goose neck area for storage.  So far we have found it very comfortable with oodles of space.

Andrew Brennan at Winjana is a great guy & super helpful!

Good luck with your choice.

Very nice rig.

If I can ever convince Kathy to become a full time traveller, a fifth wheeler would be my choice. I like the Travelhome 25.

Thanks for the info Peter, we will be travelling To Brisbane in a few months so will take a detour to Toowoomba.

Thanks also to the other posters, it's given us some additional ideas to follow up on.

Cheers, Bob

Check out the "Travel Home" 5th Wheeler Bob, they fit the Ranger and are a nice set up.
