We are on our way

Got the cruiser ( Black Beauty) back yesterday, have run up 200 odd kms around here and all seems well. The auto transmission needs specialist attention, and will get that done in Melbourne. The garage doing the change over charged more than I expected, but at least it is finished.

The old motor is packed on a pallet ready for freighting back over to Brunswicks in WA.

So we are off first thing in the morning heading for Melb. ASAP.

Glad you are on the road a gain.
I know what it is like waiting all that time.
I have finally got all my mechanicals done now just waiting for the new aircon to be fitted. (Son's mate getting for cost and fitting free I just have to do the cabinet work LOL)

Jut keep an eye on everything as you go to check for oil and water loss. I know the ears will be tuned for any noise, but I hope you now have all your worries are over.

Regards
Brian

What a 'long' trip you are having - at least you have managed to see the places you wanted to. Enjoy your trip home and hopefully we will catch up when you get back.

Well, we didn't get very far! Once we got to the outskirts of Port Augusta and tried to speed up, the auto transmission was slipping so badly, Brandt decided to turn round and head back into Port Augusta and check back into the Shoreline Caravan Park. Brandt has made a few interstate phone calls and the soft wear file for the automatic transmission computer is being sent to the auto transmission garage over the weekend. So hopefully by Monday or Tuesday we may have some answers as to what the problem is. Seems strange there was nothing wrong with it until we broke down with the old motor.

So we are stuck here again in Port Augusta. Never mind there's a motor show on over the weekend. The show also includes speed boats.

Another advantage is that seeing as we had checked out this morning, we were elegible once more for the Top Tourist 10% discount.  smilesmilebiggrinbiggrin

Here I was thinking you both were on your merry way and dashing down the highway from your confinement at Pt Augusta.

But just admit it you really liked Pt Augusta so much you just had to find an excuse to staysmile

Hope it all goes well with the auto transmission and does not take too long to sort out.

Really bad luck guys.

What type of auto is it?  Is it standard Toyota or a different option?

There may be a couple of reasons it started slipping after the breakdown with the old motor:

Was the vehicle flat towed for any distance?  Some boxes do not like being towed.

The other thought would be as the motor lost power did you hold the box down for an extended period, perhaps overheating the tranny fluid.

Looking forward to catching up when make it to Melbourne.
