ACT GOOD PLACE TO VISIT THIS WEEKEND

I just got back from cruis'n around Batemans Bay, busy busy busy it is. Now what has this got to do with the heading above I hear you ask?

Well, 95% of rego plates are from the ACT so I reckon if you want to visit Canberra, this weekend is the time.

With all the ships, old and new and the NRL Grand Final in Sydney this weekend and all those ACT people here in Batemans Bay, there can't be anyone left in the Capital.

Why is this so? Well it is school Holidays and a Long Weekend here in NSW this weekend, people and cars covering every square inch of available space.

Hi buffy61,

I have been to Canberra a few times and just love the place. I always visit the War Memorial, I can spend hours slowly wandering around and for a gold coin donation to get in, no complaints from me.

Another place I always visit is both Parliament Houses and the area around there, just love it all. Unfortunately Parliament is not sitting as we speak so you can't watch kindergarten playtime. Make sure you do the drive past of all the Embassies, a real eye opener and I tell you that for free.

If you like lookouts and even if you don't pop up to Mount Ainslie Lookout, you get a view all round and the view straight down Anzac Parade is breathtaking in my opinion anyway. Do both a day visit and a night visit is a MUST, just take a coat this time of year at night. Telstra Tower is worth a bo peep as well, I just prefer the view from the mount and the mount is free.

You could also consider a cruise around Lake Burly (Spelling) Griffin.

Don't worry too much if you find yourself in the same place you started because you go around in circles in Canberra, literally.

Great place Canberra, just keep an eye out for Geese :))

Enjoy but,

Thanks everyone...loving Canberra so far. 2 days isn't going to be enough to see it all.
There is a food and wine festival this weekend and we spent the afternoon visiting wineries!! :)
Went to the place with miniature village and international villages...kinda cool.
To the markets tomorrow and then maybe a drive up the mountain/hill you suggest for a look see!

An interesting thing to do is a tour of the Corillion... they show you how it is played, and theres a wonderful view from up there! Enquire at the Visitor Centre, Northbourne Ave, or online.

That's why we don't live in BBay Dougwe. There soon might be less though as at least 50% of the houses on the market are ACT holiday homes.
