Mitchell Qld to St George

Can anyone tell us what the Mitchell-St George Road is like?

Gday...

I travelled this road last year (so not sure what current conditions maybe) and it is a sealed road all the way. I had no problems.

The attached photo is 'snipped' from this website - http://131940.qld.gov.au/Home.aspx

Looks like considerable roadworks.

Cheers - John

I was there last year, the road suffers from an abundance of animals wondering on the road, Kangaroos, wild pigs, cattle and emus. You have to keep your foot near the brake pedal. Good sealed surface. There is no camping sites between Mitchell and St. George even though Camp 6 says so. Beware of the distance, it's longer than you think.

Enjoy

Have just arrived home today, travelled that road 15/9 and it was fine. As previously posted there is a huge amount of  wild life, both living and dead. We went through to Nindigully and free  camped behind the pub. Have fun! smile

If you are self - sufficient and want a stop over for the night, there is a nice quiet spot beside the river, about 14ks west of Mitchell 500m off Warrego Hwy.

As stated, the road is sealed all the way, lots of jumpers and feather dusters with a number of gattle also along the way Travelled it 2 days ago. Camp 655(Womallilla Creek Bridge) is open, basic but very peaceful. No amenities, room for 4 0r 5 rigs. Entry about 100metres on the right before the bridge travelling north
