Removing dinette table

Yep...there is a big screw thing holding the base in. We took the whole thing out too and then made up a piece of wood and got some foam and covered that...we now have a lovely big bed to lounge on to watch TV! Or escape to when one of us snores too loud!!

We are new nomadders and want to remove the dining table inside our new AVan pop top as we never use it and eat outdoors mostly. We have unscrewed the top from the big round metal base but does the big round  base also come off the floor? We would prefer to have a small fold away table to use inside when the need arises. This would free up the lounge area for watching tv, reading etc. obviously we would keep the table for future resale purposes. image.jpgimage.jpg

Hi.

The big round base usually has a removable securing bolt down the inside of the centre tube. You just need to unscrew this and take the base out.

I hope this helps.

Regards Chris

The interior of your van looks the same setup as our old Roma pop top . We removed the table as well ,for the same reasons and never missed it. Just took our fold up table inside when the weather wasn't good. When we sold it Baz just put the table back in. Our current van has a large table but has drop down ends so we haven't removed it.

Welcome to the Forum Bean and Teddie we hope you have years of fun travelling.

Gidday Bean and Teddy

The removal of the table is exactly what all is saying.

We removed the table and had the table top cut round @650mm. We then removed the most uncomfortable L shaped lounge, (why manufacturers insist on putting these dreaded lounges if you can call them that, in vans. I guess it is all about squeezing in as much as possible.)

After the removal of the lounge, we then put in very comfortable recliners (Office Works, office chairs) and we move the table to wherever we want it. Simple.

My I add we have an older van, so removal of a lounge was no big deal. I would however be reluctant doing any major renos on a new van.

Of course there is the minor issue of traveling with loose items. We have overcome that very simply.

Hope that helps

Cheers and beers

We also removed our whole dinette and replaced it with 2 recliner chairs and 2 fold up tables. (the ones that you can use in your lounge, adjustable height and table angle and base that slides under chair). We also removed the crap collecting sofa opposite and put in a cupboard. Ours is an older van too and we have covered a lot of kms since and had no problems with van. We have a table and chairs for the awning/annex so we use that when weather permits.

Hi all Grey Nomads

Kay & I took out our table and that bloody awful L shaped seating, the Van was a brand new Avan Owen, we also bought a couple of swivel/rockers from OfficeWorks and they are just great
