Hi Milo, going to casualty in an ambulance doesn't make a lot of difference. If they access you as not critical, on arrival, you'll be shoved into the waiting room to wait your turn. My mum was taken to casualty (after a fall) at 9.30pm on a Saturday night. She was accessed as not critical & shoved into the waiting room. It was 2.30 am before she was attended to. Just the way the system works. You need plenty of patience when going to casualty. I feel for you.
Chin up mate, these things are sent to try us, and yes next time phone an ambo, low blood can be critical, every time I have called an ambo I get into a bed in quick time, but it does depend on how busy the hospital is and how they look at your case.
Take care mate and get some rest or you will be buggered.
Yes a bit frustrating Milo,,, hang in there,,, had similar over the past couple of years with parents.
Give you one to make you smile though,,,
A couple of years ago looking after Grandkids (parents overseas),,,,, Miss 8 years old gets sick at night,,, ring the 1800 free call Nurse,, she has her name already so OK here etc,,, describe problem,,, go to emergency right away,,, so OK off we go, Grandpa and Miss 8.
Triage nurse does her stuff,, take a seat. Miss 8 very tired goes to sleep across my lap,,,2 hours later (they had a couple of ambulances arrive) I was worried that Miss 8 needed to be looked at. Went to counter,,,ah they had forgotten about her...
Take you in now. OK now about 1AM all tired,, Miss 8 has to give urine sample,,, Granpda panics,, can't go in with her to do this,, ask Nurse can she go with Miss 8.
Miss 8 sparks up flashes her eyes at me and says "I can do this myself Grandpa, I know what to do". She had given a sample once previously. WELL DONE MISS 8.
What a relief - pardon the pun ,,,
ANYWAY IF EXCESSIVE DELAY IN ER DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK - staff are busy and things can and do fall into the cracks.
