I have a Redarc dual battery system fitted to my Ford Ranger ute and from that system I have an anderson plug fitted at the towbar for when I am towing the caravan.
My question is, when NOT TOWING the caravan, can I make a lead up with some good quality 6mm twin cable, an anderson plug on one end and connectors on the other end to go on a battery in the back of the ute.
I am thinking of when I am taking my tinny away and the battery needs charging, I would like to just throw the battery in the back of the ute (well, I mean put it in there securely of course) and just hook the lead from the anderson plug to the battery in the back of the ute so that it is being fully charged up while take the boat out. It is nearly 2 hours drive to the boat ramp where I go so I thought that would be plenty of time to recharge the battery if it was getting a bit flat.
we have just that done for battery we connect to our waeco. I believe some sort of relay was put in so could not drain main battery when alternator not charging
Thanks Tezza
yes the anderson plug I have on the towbar comes from my auxiliary battery which, like yours does not allow the main battery to drain.
so it all sounds good.
