Camped up at Rawnsley Park Station

We will be here for about a week before heading further into the Rangers to further explore this amazing place. We stopped off at Warren Gorge and stayed the night. From what we have seen so far just form the road we are going to be blown away. We. should be in this area for about 3 weeks before heading in NSW via Broken Hill. This area of SA just's adds to our delight of this year as we have toured this state. If you have not been here, your missing out on a great experience. (by the way, we don't work for SA tourism ).

Neither do we, (work for SA tourism), but the Flinders Ranges would have to be our favourite bit of Australia so far.  Are you heading up to Parachilna while in the area.  If you do, and go to the prairie hotel, say Hi for us, we worked there last year for three months.

We were there in April this year on our way home from WA. It's stunning and well worth the visit. Took a flight over the Pound from Rawnsley and loved that. Had a look at the gorges and although it was very dry it was an amazing place to visit.

We both want to go back again. Lucky you!!

Hi Dunmowin, we will be headed that way next week as we will pop in and say hello on your behalf. We are lovin it not only the views but the places to park up are great. First night was Warren Gorge and that set the the scene.

Been there twice, very pretty area. Also done the flight over area last time we were there. Had good overnight rain as well so that made the roads interesting.

Try to get up to Arkaroola while you are in the area. Quite different to the area around Wilpena, but spectacular.

If you do go to Arkaroola, although it costs, the Ridge Top Tour is brilliant.

Try the Skytrek at Willow Springs just a few kilometers north of Wilpena.
I spent three months there this winter and most people were very happy with the trek.
Takes about 6 hours if done properly and is a track for four wheel drives but is usually OK for most. I have seen a few turn back but it is a great experience. You see many different types of scenery as you encircle one of the large ranges as well as much wild life and now the flowers would be out.
You must start before 10:30 and time your trip to get to the end just before dark and get the sunset photos from the top of the track, just before the end where you drop down to the homestead.
A trip through both gorges si very worth while.
Lots to see and some great spots out on the tracks where you can camp.
Regards
Brian
