Can anyone tell me if the road from Cairns to Normanton is now fully paved? Hi Nat

Last month we travelled from Innisfail to Normanton via Ravenshoe and Georgetown etc and all the roads are sealed although a bit narrow at times. If you are going that way be sure to see the Undara Lava Tubes
also worth seeing Cobold gorge but leave van at Georgetown or Forsythe. We actually left our van at Cumberland mine site( just west of Georgetown) and drove in from there.
We traveled from Cairns to Normanton back in July and yes it's all paved but as mentioned there are some narrow single lane bits along the way, nothing to get too worried about.
be sure to have your UHF on and tuned to channel 40 so you can hear the road trains coming and have time to safely get right off the road and stop before they get to you.
other than that it is a good drive.

Just be aware of all the potential road kill that is lurking around along that section of road, It is so dry out that way any little bit of greenery along the road verges encourages more wild life.
