Have any of you seen those ladders that collapse into themselves ? They go to about 3.5 mtrs. Well as a maintenance plumber I had one on the front of my works trailer it was handy for manholes and on industrial sites over machines etc.Sadly the bottom rung snapped off recently as I  had a 50 litre hot water unit sitting on my left shoulder and took one step and that was it !! Plus I would not let anyone use it bar me as it did not conform to worksafe standards.Anyway being semi retired and sitting in the shed your thoughts turn to the odd challenge.I know ! sez me I,ll bung it under the van! I know some folk don,t like crawling under vans but since I still regularly crawl under houses in mud etc for burst pipes its no big deal.I have put it directly behind the second water tank so its protected from stones etc. I used a small loop bracket and an angled piece of steel at the front to support the weight and then just lifted up the back and used 2 self clamping tie downs on to the frame. One just has to remember to take a really big step on the first step ! So next time your in a C/Park and you decide to re roof your van just seek me out and its out for you in 3 mins ! Cheers .
