New Fees

Was reading an interview in the Tasmanian Examiner that camping fees are to be introduced for camping at the camps at the Bay Of Fires who have traditionally camped on the east coast for free.

Also other council run free camps will come into line with fees through out Tasmania.

Transition from free to fair priced is in the eye of the user, however after years of hoon problems during peak periods at the Neck camping ground on Bruny Island a fee of $10 per night was levied by way of self registration. This has I am told,  all but elliminated the problem. Amenities at the Neck when we were there was only clean drop toilets, water tank was available for rain water but was dry due to the season, take your rubbish with you.

Expect to see more free camps in Tasmania change to user pays. I have posted this attachment 2 or 3 times previously.  Perhaps potential visitors to Tassie should read it again..

I am all for user pay,it is the only way to keep these type of places open, and to help keep people from over staying and more or less taking up prime locations as their own. And why should the local rate payer in these prime locations fund my holiday I have chosen to take or visit...Where my land is located in QLd  the camp behind the sand dunes is user pay and  a time limit or it is a $240 fine and it works extra well,in stopping over staying and the hoons spoiling it for the rest.

Also stops the pensioners and many others from stopping as well so I suppose it reduces the visitations and therefore leaves more room for the people who can or want to pay so it works both ways.
