QLD finally catching up to the 21st centry

QLD rego stickers will no longer be required for vehicles and caravans under 4-5 tonnes from October next year.

Hasn't come in for Vic yet. Which reminds me I've got my paid sticker in my bag. Better put it on the windscreen.

Coming to Victoria as of the 1st of January 2014. When I transferred addresses before we hit the road full time I enquired about receiving the renewal notice via email but as yet that is to be decided. Would make it a whole lot easier as now we rely on our daughter to send us any bills. Email would be a simple Bpay.

I don't trust anything coming through email these days although I wish some of them were real. I would be a multi millionaire already. Just about every week I get notified of a substantial tax refund. I haven't clicked on them but printed them all out and will submit them with my next tax return just to see what reaction I get.

As many of you would be from WA and know that they have done away with stickers to save money(???) Now QLD is going the same way.
Be very careful as no receipts are sent when you pay. Everything is done on computer. You need to make sure you keep the date due somewhere safe as they will in Qld as they did to us when registered in WA and have with many people not sent renewals and the sticker is not there for you to see month due

Depends how the account is sent.  I get the phone and internet bill sent via email.  First I am emailed with the amount then I log onto the site to download a full bill.  I log on using my own connection to the website which I have saved in my favourites.  Yes those pesky emails notifying one of bank changes or lost millions in your name and just click on the link to verify should be avoided like the plague. The genuine ones will address you personally and one can log into their website using a password etc which one arranges when setting up the account.

Get your daughter to email or txt details and bpay. Don't count on the renewal coming via email. WA had me on their list of notifications when due. Never got it. Qld are doing away with the stickers to just as WA have. It is a nasty way of catching those out who forget their rego as the sticker is not in front of them and renewals don't get sent out. Not liking it and luckily I am one to keep a diary with dates of when things are due.

In SA you can opt for an SMS reminder, I also just use a small round Sticker with the expiry date written on and put on the Top RH of the windscreen.

Re Qld and the 21st centry, is fluoride put in the drinking water yet? from an ex Qld'er with a mouth full of fillings in my early teen years.

I know that daylight saving is still not in because of curtain fade, but most probably because 1/2 the population lives in FNQ and will be more affected than Brisbane.

Had to laugh at your question re fluoride - it is in the water now, and everyone complains about it - lived in Qld when I was a kid, and had some braces and stuff done at the Brisbane Dental Hospital, they asked if they could inject my front teeth with fluoride as an experiment - had it done - jus the front ones - still have them - but the back ones are all gone!!!!

I like the idea of a little sticker with the renewal date suggested by peterinsa. But how do you know the amount, it changes every year doesn't it?

I kept ringing our son in WA to see if our receipt had arrived. No receipts given. He said people get caught out all the time with no reminders being sent.
I know I opted and never got one. Now with Qld rego ( dearer) we are okay but I like our sticker.
Nothing this Government in Qld does is to save money only money that gives them a pay rise. We can change Labor Day holiday to be in align with other states but we cannot go daylight saving. My maroon blood is draining little more each day under this Government.

The amount is something we knew in WA so guess that is yes a concern if they don't contact through SMS or  on the contact list which is unreliable.  In Qld though you can go to the PO and buy stamps whenever you want and when the rego comes around all is payed if you work it that way. Many do not know this and is a great idea.

No stickers started in NSW at the beginning of the year and when my renewal was due in April the paperwork came in the mail as usual.I get the centrelink rebate so do not get a receipt as I pay no fees.

I was reading the reason they are bringing The No Sticker rego in to Victoria it is estimated that the move will save Victorians $19.5 million a year by reducing the red tape burdens.Approx 44.000 motorists each year who require replacement stickers for lost or damaged stickers .$600.000 just to print the stickers .But with all this saving there will be no reduction to rego charges? So I guess the motorist is the looser here and a big win to the State Gove's.

N/T is also considering bringing this in also.

And in SA, outer suburban roads are having overhead cameras installed, same as on main highways to catch speeding semis, these cameras will now catch unregistered vehicles, some of these vehicles would have still been registered under the old system ( with labels).

Its then great to catch un registered vehicles, but again and again and again, these vehicles should be crushed.

Its my understanding that up to July this year in SA, if an unregistered vehicle crashed into you and you were injured, you were given no compenstion, after July I think you are covered for injuries, but pain and suffering??. And it cost less than the previous system. Do not know the situation in other states, hope they follow.

Bit of a Segway but your profile shows a Hobie Adventure Island. I just bought a tandem islander and plan to tour with it on a Suzuki behind our MH. Have had it in the water twice and am still learning the ins and outs of the sailing but it seems great. You obviously enjoy yours as well.

Meant to reply to Bryan about his photo, obviously I have not mastered the process yet.
