Gday All pick up our new coromal 667 27/10/13 We are looking for advice on towing mirrors for a hj61 landcruiser would appreciate some advice on this subject. Cheers Bowsie
Hey Bowsie, I have used these in past The only problem I had was they scratch the glass. I have just brought a new set of Milenco mirrors for my new 200 series landcruiser as I did not want to get the glass scratched on it. Thus far I have only fitted them and test drove them down the Highway sitting on 100km/h without towing the van. They appear OK to me and no more scratches. Hope this helps.
We have just purchased a set of Clearview Mirrors. Not cheap but I've tried every other type of attachable mirror and they either blow off or lose their setting. or scratch the window glass. The last that I tried was the Euro style one of which I have just put on gumtree (hope this doesn't contravene the forum rules) for sale. I just you need to figure out how much travelling you will be doing as to how much you want to pay.

I am currently using the same as copper1 on my 80 series LC after trying a couple of others.
the best advise I can give is to measure the width of the van and the distance needed to extend your vision with the mirrors and then start looking at what mirrors will do the job.
clip on mirrors are a waste of time, I have seen them blown off other cars.
these particular mirrors are fine although I am finding I have to tighten them up all the time as they get blown around badly by the passing trucks, especially the road trains!
Im told the clearview mirrors are the best but they are expensive.
Thanks Cooper iam taking the hj61 up to port smith and other areas north of wa for first trip away looking for cheapest mirrors when we go for the big trip I have the last of the 100 series lc turbo diesel 40000 klms on clock from new when we brought it just trying to get the last out of the hj61 will be going for the clearveiws on 100 series though.much appreciated bowsie
Thanks pam & chris iam looking forward to the reviews on these mirrors as the outlay to purchase them is quite substantial look forward to yore experience with them cheers bowsie and debra trainee junior nomads
we have the clearview on our bt50 and love them. But on our trip at Camoweal we ran into a man who was going to a caravan show to sell his mirrors. Our travelling group were very keen on them. He did a demo and they were so easy to install and remove and a reasonable price, under$200 if I recall correctly. You may like to look at his web page ?
We have brought a set of Clearview mirrors today. It's great to read the positive reviews especially since they are expensive. I'm learning to back our van so need good mirrors to do a good job.
I too have Clearviews on my 200 and they are the best for towing. A mate bought a set of the Brunsgarrd for his 200 because he wanted to retain his auto fold and camera functions. The importer was easy to deal with and guaranteed no blowback with the auto fold and so far so good. $198 from memory and very well made. I will likely be selling my Clearviews as we are going to a motorhome and have put my original mirrors back on.

I've had a set of these mirrors, they are pretty good at no blow back. But, we installed ours exactly as instructed, first trip ok second trip one blew off when we hit 80km. They landed without damage, but while waiting on the road edge to collect it a passing hoon veered to mangle the mirror. !!@##!!. We contacted the company who were prepared to replace it but the cost wasn't worth it as there were no guarantees it wouldn't happen again. hence we have a spare if any one wishes to buy a single mirror.
Chris
