Reg You could try Macquarie Woods which is on the way to Orange, about 28 kms give or take.

Here you are just googled it.

Hi, we would like to know if there is any free camping in or near Bathurst before the v8 racing.

It isn't free but the showgrounds has camping in Bathurst.

Hi Reg we stayed at Carcoar Dam near Blayney great spot, toilet's Cold Showers and Rain water in tanks its 53km from Bathurst.
