Werrimull, Vic (Free Camping now available)

Ph: (03) 5028 1200  Email:

13 km off the Sturt Highway, from Cullulleraine (via Millewa Rd),  between Merringur and Red Cliffs.

GPS co-ords:  34 23 15.81 S, 141 35 42.09 E

The campsites are in the town where the railway siding, old recreation oval, old town dam water supply and railway homes once were.  This is a large area covering about 15 acres and campers can choose to camp opposite the township or in more remote areas in the bush.  Plenty of shade and good level ground for caravans and motorhomes.  Small area suitable for tents.  Pets are allowed as long as they are kept under control.

Facilities:  Toilet, cold water shower, water taps, rubbish bin.  Hot showers available at Werrimull Hotel for a small fee.  There is currently no charge for camping, although donations to improve the area are appreciated.  Stay as long as you like.

Attractions:  Victoria's Most Outback Pub, School & Police Station.  Limestone Catholic Church built in 1935.  Lake Culleraine (13km) has great fishing, yachting, swimming and water skiing.  Mallee Sunset National Park (15km).  Merringur (25km) has the Millewa Pioneer Historical Park.  Lock 9 on the Murray River (30km).

Thank you to Sue Jewson of the Werrimull Hotel, for supplying this information.
