Hello everyone has anyone ever camped at waroora station in western Australia ? its pristine beach camping and its one place here in the west where its affordable for families and pensioners to stay ,well the Carnarvon shire wants to close this beautiful place down ,they are putting in a new caravan park in Coral Bay so they may feel the station will take business away from the Bay everyone who camps here spend money in Carnarvon shopping etc so I don't see why they have to stop people using this self sufficient camp site it is well run and kept tidy etc by the caretakers I am trying to get as many people as possible to complain to the shire or the chamber of commerce as it would be such a shame to lose the ability to spend time in this wonderful place we only have till the 7th of Oct to voice our objections please let as many people as possible know and maybe together we can stop this from happening
CALM tried to do this a couple of years ago and were shot down in flames by the backlash from regular users, so had to reverse there decision not to renew the leasehold on the area.
I was under the impression the lease had been granted back to the station owners for several more years at least.
Another CP at Coral Bay has been on the cards too for a few years, the last attempt at Mauds Landing was scuppered by the green brigade.
There is a drastic shortage of CP spaces in Coral bay especially in season.
Do you have a link to this new proposal ? maybe also put up a link to where we can voice our objections and why by the 7th of October ?
sorry guys just looked on here to see the comments ,I HAD TO WRITE A COMPLAINT TO THE SHIRE PRESIDENT they wont except emails they made the 7th of oct the closing date I assume because it didn't give people time to protest
Hi Banjo its not calm trying to close warroora its the shire they do has there lease but its for the sheep station not tourism ,its all being done a bit underhand I think there is a link on the Carnarvon shire site apparently but I just wrote to the shire to complain I hope we can save this campsite as it is a wonderful experience to camp there
