Quite a few in car GPS devices have an AV in socket that can be used for a camera. I used one with my old Navman MY75. Had a switch to select cam on or always on when reverse selected. Worked very well for me.

I am investigating which GPS to use in the tug, other than basic GPS capability I believe I would benefit from having rear camera support, large vehicle route support, and the ability to act as blue tooth device for a phone (we can have one through the car, and the other through the gps).
I am currently looking at three, being: VMS HD7000, HEMA HN6, or Mud Maps M7.
The functionality appears similar across the three, but the M7 appears to be a little immature in its features (still got some bugs).
I used to have a Toyota Prius and it used the Polaris GPS and rear view camera system. If you try this link it gives various options for GPS with rear view cameras.
I have gone a different way in that I have just dispensed with my old combined GPS + RV Camera and purchased a new top of the range GPS Garmin, and have a separate monitor showing the reversing camera plus a rear view camera mounted on the van.
The reversing camera is mounted just above the tow ball so that I can back on to it without help and then the rear view camera gives excellent vision backwards.
Just a word of caution that there are two different types of camera, one which can be on all day and the other older/cheaper type which is only suitable for short use as they can overheat
I have just brought Navman MY400LMT in-car GPS from Dick Smith life time free maps & traffic up dates.
It has blue tooth hands free, live traffic updates, voice destination, entry, trip planner and driver fatigue alert.
price was introduction offer $229.
My camera is built into van for reversing.
The last Navman I had was the first one I had ever owned,so it must be over 10 years old, still works fine but seen this on special so like all new gadgets brought it.
The My400 doesn't appear to have an AV in socket though Herbie. The My Escape II, I just bought for just under $350, has Lifetime free maps, Traffic Alerts (only for major cities though) AV in for connecting a rear camera, 4WD tracks, Large Vehicle assist, bluetooth connectivity, trip planner amongs other handy stuff.
Thanks for that Bob, the features on the Navman look fantastic, what else could you want.
I currently use a 3 year old Navman, and when it was about a month old the touch screen became very insensitive. I bought the unit in Brisbane (I was lost), and by the time I had the problem I was back in Melbourne. When I rang Navman, yes they would fix/replace it under warranty, but I had to take it back to where I bought it. Or I could take it to another reseller and pay them to process the claim! I paid. It was fixed, and stayed good for a while, it is now insensitive again, but I can do without the problems of dealing with their support again.
I checked out the reviews on the My Escape 2, people love the features, but those who have had cause to use the support are still not impressed.
I love the look of the features, just not sure if I want to roll the dice with Navman again.
