I have often said the nicest people in the world are left handed Sagittarians, followed bu all other lefties, with common old right handers dragging along in the rear!
We all know in which hand we hold a pen, but how far does this bias extend throughout your body? Are you left-eared? Left eyed? Here is a simple test you can apply to yourself.
Imagine the centre of your back is itching. Which hand do you scratch it with?
Interlock your fingers. Which thumb is uppermost?
Imagine you are applauding. Start clapping your hands. Which hand is uppermost?
Wink at an imaginary friend straight in front of you. Which eye does the winking?
Put your hands behind your back, one holding the other. Which hand is doing the holding?
Someone in front of you is shouting but you cannot hear the words. Cup your ear to hear better. Which ear do you cup?
Count to three on your fingers, using the forefinger of the other hand. Which forefinger do you use?
Tilt your head over on to one shoulder. Which shoulder does it touch?
Fixate a small distant object with your eyes and point directly at it with your forefinger. Now close one eye. Now change eyes. Which eye was open when the fingertip remained in line with the small object? (When the other eye, the non-dominant one, is open and the dominant eye is closed, the finger will appear to move to one side of the object.)
Fold your arms. Which forearm is uppermost?
If you have always considered yourself to be right or left-handed you will probably now have discovered that your body is less than total in its devotion to its favoured side. If you are right-handed the chances are that you were not able to be 'right' 10 times.
John is more left than I am. According to that test, I'm more right than left, but I write left handed. Screw driver, either or. Hammer, left. Table tennis bat, left. Golf club, right. Scissors, right. Phone, left. Dialling, right. It's all so confusing. One of my party tricks is "mirror writing" or writing backwards with my left hand. Apparently, da Vinci wrote all his notes that way.
Almost forgot... just to add to the confusion, I used a mouse left handed but a laptop touch pad right handed.

One of my grandchildren is right handed when doing most everyday things but is naturally left handed when playing sport ,cricket, tennis, and soccer all left hand and left foot.

We all know in which hand we hold a pen, but how far does this bias extend throughout your body? Are you left-eared? Left eyed? Here is a simple test you can apply to yourself.
Imagine the centre of your back is itching. Which hand do you scratch it with? Right
Interlock your fingers. Which thumb is uppermost? Left
Imagine you are applauding. Start clapping your hands. Which hand is uppermost? Right
Wink at an imaginary friend straight in front of you. Which eye does the winking? Left
Put your hands behind your back, one holding the other. Which hand is doing the holding? Left
Someone in front of you is shouting but you cannot hear the words. Cup your ear to hear better. Which ear do you cup? Left
Count to three on your fingers, using the forefinger of the other hand. Which forefinger do you use? Right
Tilt your head over on to one shoulder. Which shoulder does it touch? Left
Fixate a small distant object with your eyes and point directly at it with your forefinger. Now close one eye. Now change eyes. Which eye was open when the fingertip remained in line with the small object? (When the other eye, the non-dominant one, is open and the dominant eye is closed, the finger will appear to move to one side of the object.) Neither eye ... finger moves to right of the object when left eye is open - and to the left of the object when right eye is open
Fold your arms. Which forearm is uppermost? Left
If you have always considered yourself to be right or left-handed you will probably now have discovered that your body is less than total in its devotion to its favoured side. If you are right-handed the chances are that you were not able to be 'right' 10 times.
Gday...
An interesting, and perhaps informative, waste of 5 minutes
Cheers - John

Its a good 'test' Rip and Rosie...thank you. Its what you do 'without thinking' that this test is all about and quite revealing perhaps.
I've almost always been assumed to be 'ambidextrous' (except by my 'early-years' teachers, whom saw me as cack-handed).......though ambidextrous is, by definition, a rare category; and certainly incorrect re me. I always reckon I am a leftie; but quite ok with most things with either hand being dominant..... and I suspect a lot of us are too, to certain a degree.
IMHO, many of us are simply 'mixed-handed', though the lefthand-dominant folk are often MUCH more noticed as different and certainly such folk are given the opportunity to be much more aware of things being not in their favour (eg chainsaw, windup watch, writing........etc)

Have you seen Obama sign a document? He bends his wrist so that his knuckles face left to right. I used to write like that as a kid but my little finger kept smudging the ink (the old ink and nib days). So I developed a vertical writing style with my knuckles facing straight ahead. But since my signature was established as being written a la Obama style, I kept it that way. So now when I sign a document that asks for a printed version of my name, address, etc, as well as a signature, the two styles are totally different.
Incidentally, on the mirror writing thing, if it's natural for a right hander to write left to right, then it follows that it's natural for a leftie to write right to left. Which explains why mirror writing is relatively easy for some lefties.
