Lower the seat base of the drivers seat ?

Hi ladies and gentlemen

As you know I'm looking around at a lot of different Motorhomes to make up my mind.

One of the nicer ones was a KEA Dreamtime and all was looking for me fantastic, except of the price.... . Lot's of options to make it up as I want later on and huuuuuge inside. But there was a big downturn. I didn't fit properly in the drivers seat. Even at the lowest possible setting I had 2mm head space left between my head and the roof. Didn't feel very comfortable and I would breake my neck at the first bump. Seems the cab is designed by outminded midgeds while the rest of the MH is completely the opposite direction biggrin . I'm 1.90m high, so quite average.

Is it possible to lower the base of the seat ? And if so, has anyone here ever done that ? Or is here someone who knows someone.... ?smile

Kind regards, Berni

Hi Berni,

My mate changed the seats in his 4x4 by cutting the rails off the base of his seat and cutting some of the rest of the base away before re-welding the rails back, gained about four inches in the old money.

So it can be done But.

But technically it is illegal for you to do that as the seats are ADR approved and  would need an engineers report and Mod plate to be legal.

Careful, modifying the seats below the specs it will change the seat belt restraint angles and is certainly illegal if not certified by an engineered .
