This is a lovely free camp with plenty of room at Western Beach on Lake Albacutya, Shady trees, fire places, toilet block, and if your brave enough cold showers. The lake is dry at the moment but the camp site is worth a look and it is a great place to see wild life.
A good place to spend some time to enjoy peace and tranquillity ... as long as it is not at a time when the locals visit the place.
The road in is a good sealed road and the camping area is pretty good. As stated flushing toilets, cold showers and tank water (dependent on how recent the rain). The only thing I found when I was there in January was there were hoards of bees - did not bother me, but buzzed around the amenities block - like us, they look for water.
Here a couple of photos - first one is from the lake looking back to the campground and the second is looking out to the dry lake from campground.
We camped here last year for a couple of nights on our way through to the Clare Valley. It was nice and peaceful when we where there and only 1 other van there but It may be a bit different on weekends etc as our fire pit was full melted stubbies etc. and a bit of damage from trail bikes around the camp. A crew from Parks Vic came in and cleaned out all the fireplaces and did some tidying up while we where there. We would definately stay there again mid week and is on our list of preferrred camp sites. Rod.

Camped here again last week. Still a nice quiet camping area. We had it to ourselves first night and 2 vans travelling together came in the 2nd night. Also the toilet block has had a bit of work done on them since we were there last. It is hard to imagine the lake will fill again but it is still a very nice spot.
